You know how in an NRP you spend you much time making your nation, fleshing out the people, building histories, creating cultures and of course manufacturing a grand army, only for the NRP to die before you get to the part where you can use your epic army?

This is just an idea I had that people could use their Nations they've made for various NRPs and fight it out in an arena styled battle. No real lore, no real reason, just a good old fashion battle. Think like mutli-verse arena or Deadliest Warrior but with armies.

You can either just duke it out with numbers and stats and die rolls and all the fun stuff or just do it as an arena battle. Basic rules would included don't suddenly pull out an extra army or a missile from your rectum without saying you have one before hand and agree on a time period. I can't see fantasy dwarves do too well against a space faring empire with orbital strikes (unless that's you liking).

So, anyone think this would be interesting or would this just fall flat?

I've never done much arena stuff, but this looks right up my alley. I'm down, especially if the equivalent time period is sew here within 1792-1945

@ClocktowerEchosSure, why not?
Do you have any faction in mind?
We need to discuss the army size stipulations and such but otherwise I'm game.
I would rather not use dice rolls and other game systems, though. Maybe later. For now good'ol common sense and honesty should do.

I'd ask @Rilla whether such games can be hosted in the Arena section or should we do it in the Casual, though.
People had similar ideas in the Arena interest threads before.

I mean, army size will likely be determined by equivalent time period, so I figure that is what folks should figure out first.

No need to ask.

It can.

@Willy Vereb

If you want we can try it out with Yamatai and Yllenthir (excuse my spelling). Just as a test run to see how viable this crazy little idea really is

Ethos worded it as we'd be using our NRP nations from previous games, say my dwarves from Zwölfberge against Cyclone's Ard Tribe.
Also there's a thing that wars aren't just one big battle. Well, they usually aren't.
You have numerous different battles and we'd be just playing out one of the many. There are both big and small battles so establishing the size of the forces is important and has next to no relation to what age we're in.

You're on!
Say, shall it be that past war we only mentioned before?
You know in the 1920s. Or would that be unfair?
Well, you said that no plot is required so let's not wack our brains over it.
How large of a force you wish to feature here?
What is the battlefield would be like?
The rest would be easy to determine after it.
EDIT: Yllendthyr. I typed it down so many times that i no longer need to copy-paste it (I used to do that for almost the entire length of the RP).

@ClocktowerEchosBTW, the name. How should we call this game?
I thought about a cheesy title like "When Nations Collide - Yamatai (ClocktowerEchos) vs Yllendthyr (Willy Vereb)"
Sounds good enough?

XD lol

I say that we use the same unit composition we had in that RP, just to keep things simple.
Battle size, let's try some 10k men for a field army.
As for the location, I'm thinking with normal ground forces supported by aircraft in a feild battle or some good old fashioned building-to-building urban city seige.

It should be noted that I'm actually kinda inept at writing battles for NRPs since well... most of them never lived long enough for it to really happen

I am good with battles but for the same reason as you I got rather rusty with them as of late. If anything i am good at writing space battles with tactics which would make even Yang Wen-li green with envy. But good'ol WW2 style clashes? Been long. I may watch a few movies as a refresher

Anyways, 10k sounds about right. So say that's about the size of a small Division.
Unless you wish to play Stalingrad I suggest against urban combat. Those are pretty nasty anyways.
What about a large open plains akin to the battle of Kursk?

Ahh, hmm...
So something like one side digs in and the other has to push through, I'm up for that.

Shall we make the RP first than discuss the details in depth there?

Of course we should.
All RP threads have an OOC part.
We can also use the Characters portion to make our army list.

EDIT: I'm making it right now!
