The man in the suit doubled over on impact. In the following moment, the cell clattered to the floor, broken, and he noted three things; that his employee's suspicions would seem to be correct, that his captives had as much as substantiated that claim, and that his intended course of action would have had an effect. He caught his breath and calmly straightened to his full height, taking the time to adjust his jacket and tie.

"Hold position." he calmly stated, turning his head to monitor Christian's reaction. "No one moves until I give the order."

Sam canted her head and readied a witty retort, but stopped short when she caught sight of a bluetooth ear bud. He was obviously talking to his confederates. How had she been foolish enough to believe he had come alone?

"Now," he continued, stooping to recover the phone. "That was not what I would call an impressive opening bid. Allow me to renegotiate."

As he spoke, the captives had time to gather more information. With his power in full bloom, Christian could readily identify the body of his and Sam's attacker, dead and bloodied at his feet, a small hole in his temple supplying the liquid which pooled there. The warehouse had been abandoned, so far as they could tell, but had not been entirely empty. Surveillance equipment dotted the interior. They were being recorded.

"As you might imagine, only a great fool would dare to order a daylight abduction without at least some precautionary measures. I am not a great fool. My men are waiting on any indication that this meeting is not holding up to my [i]very[/i] selective tastes. They have orders to fire their weapons dry if either I do not call a hold, or do not respond within thirty seconds."

Sam's throat went dry. These were not orderlies. They didn't just give you your pills and move on to the next cell. They were serious criminals. Their next move could end up making the difference between freedom and a nice floral arrangement next to a headstone.
