It's really a win-win for the Leprechauns. They gain an ally with a strong military presence without having to engage their own forces. They make this alliance by offering goods and services they then get paid for. Essentially they get a strong protector for free AND that protector is paying them money to keep doing what they've always been doing. They can also claim amnesty from whatever the Salamanders do, for the most part, because they won't have their military engaged in those actions leaving them free to pursue alliances with other races as well. EDIT: Next post is going to go up tomorrow some time. Hopefully the Sylph leader will have been decided by then so that I can extend a peace-treaty to them.
Oh boy the diplomancy on this is tempting... Leprechauns are probably the most powerful race through sheer value, every race would want the leprechauns due to their artificing and smithing skills... (cause having siege engines will make taking other territory a breeze) but then you gotta think? how do the leprechauns escape the game by getting to the top of the world tree..? since if they are helping others they are literally requesting to stay. But for the long term The alliance is probably gonna be made... Praise to the old geezer.
