Yuri Tynko
They were going through the final briefing. They had to. They might've not done it in the other sectors, but the Garrison soldiers were sure to take everything into a big consideration. Safety was key, especially when you are flinging yourselves at high speeds towards beasts with extreme reflexes. It's like a cat, swiping flies like beasts from the skies and nibbling on them for pure entertainment or boredom-driven activities. As horrifying as it sounded, it was a normal thought that stuck with Yuri. He used to have the hellish nightmares of just the five people he cared about to some degree being swiped from their grapples, taken and ripped apart limb from bloody limb. He had become so accustom to these feelings that...he just couldn't sleep. He wasn't scared of them anymore. He wasn't frightened of those thoughts anymore...it just...still affected him as a person. He was sure that everyone would have had that feeling, but not as much as Yuri had. Someday, he might be able to visit the Cannon that his Father died by, or at least the spot of his death. Maybe he'd be able to see Vera before this all happened? Or before that even happened, maybe he'd call prey to bone and teeth as he'd be crushed, blood droplets spewing from every hole created in his skin until he was nothing more than just a stain. Lovely thought, wasn't it. That was another thing with Yuri, he was always such a downer. He knew that the world was a cruel place, and with his current social skill he found it increasingly difficult to remember how to keep a happy attitude. There was a few times though, where such a pathetic and worthless man managed to find the inner happiness and shed some smiles, but that, that is another time back.
It had been fourteen days into the training Programme, and boy it was tough. He'd never thought that he would've made it so far in so little time. The progression rate of going through training had dramatically increased from 2 Years to just 7 Months. Though that meant more work, more straining and more movement. It meant more chance of getting the boot, and having a one-way trip back to nowhere wasn't the ideal plan for Yuri. He wanted a nicer life, and to be honest, his old life was crumbled and evaporated into the nothingness of death and history; the Military was the life he could only have. Himself, Annella, Grant, Lilith and Teki, whom was Lilith's younger brother, were all sitting around a table outside. They never really fancied the Mess Hall like everyone else did, and it was a grand spot for such a hard-working place. They each had bread rations that they had managed to scavenge through the ever-so long queues. It was a treat for everyone. The few would all share stories of happiness and gratitude amongst one another, making jokes and peaceful praise to inventions and life experiences they had once had. Yuri would only grin, seeing as he was the down person he was. Annella would constantly look as if she wanted to point it out, but seemed to have her identical anxiety get the best of her. Yuri felt bad for dragging her into this group, sometimes keeping her away from what had seemed like her true friends. A boy and another hyperactive girl, because they weren't already enough of those already. When it was Yuri's turn to tell a tale, he had to think. Deeply amongst his shattered memories, he managed to scavenge this one short tale. "Yuri's got some great stories, right?" Grant would prod Yuri's shoulder and jacket constantly to try and get him to feel more sociable. Making him more involved was Grant's number one priority at that time. "Lilith told me a f'w right? Like that one about the horse doing the-" "TEK'!" Lilith looked red, embarrassed as it was clear she had done something that wasn't ideal for her survival against the two taller males. "You told them?!" Yuri looked at her, a slightly distraught face came onto himself. It looked rather upset, yet rather curious, into why and how it was told. Lilith was always so keen into messing up how stories went, as that meal was proving. Teki had to constantly remind his sister about how he was getting half of the tales wrong, or at least that might've been him trying to spare the embarrassment of himself when it was about him. "Only a lil' bit..." Lilith looked away with a cheeky grin crawling up her face. The expression was clear that she was trying not to make herself laugh too much. Annella looked confusedly at everyone, turning her head from one person to the other. She had no clue what they were on about. "Uhhh...g-guys...what's...this Horse...story?" Yuri was quick to respond. "NOPEWHATHORSESTORYHAHAHAHATHERE'SNOHORSESTORYIT'SCOOLTHEYAREJUSTJOKINGAROUNDHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!" She instantly turned her head to a slight angle, giving him the most confused of looks, which was quickly followed by her laughter. Yuri looked too embarrassed to tell. He turned to Grant for guidance, who only gave him a hand gesture to carry on and tell the tale of embarrassment. He sighed. "Well...I...Own a horse...yes...a Horse...his name is Gōrudosansetto. Old saying...I...think it means GoldenSunset. It's an old saying...but...still. Anyway..." He cleared his throat, hoping they were too bored to hear the story. But everyone was as intrigued as ever, making him feel slightly uncomfortable. Even Annella looked more excited that Yuri himself did. "Well...I...was taking him for my first Riding lesson, well his first riding lesson...I was a pro Rider at that time and obviously I had the experie-" "It was Yuri's first time riding..." Grant interrupted with a Grin. "S-shut up...Grant...you stupid Fuck...no one likes you. Your hair is stupid and you are too tall to be real!" Yuri blurted out in a humorous tone. "And so...I was taking a Normal Lesson when Gōrudosansetto started to gallop. He was young back then, and had a slow and jittery p-pace. It took me by surprise and, I...Uhm...may of fell off...conveniently into the pile of...uhm...where...uhm..." "Basically where Gōrudosansetto takes his shits. He had to take at least four cleaning sessions to get himself to a somewhat decent texture." Grant beamed greatly at the group, then back to Yuri. "I wasn't surprised he didn't land in his own pile of shit, which it ten times larger." "GRANTIFYOUWANNATAKETHISOUTSIDEBEMYGUESTIWILLPUTYOUINTHEFUCKINGGROUNDYOUCUNT!" "But...we are outsi-" "You know what I meant..." Everyone but Yuri laughed. Annella laughed too much, whilst Lilith went literally insane over the story and outcome. Then another Idea popped into Yuri's head...a story he found funny all the time. "But...there was this one time...where there was this guy who kept walking into my house...I was so little back then...He kept walking in and sleeping in our house. It scared me at some point...so I decided to confront the man. I asked him, who he was and why he was in our shop all the time...I couldn't believe it...I was so little...He told me how we were going to be seeing each other for such a long time, for so long and onwards for many years...I do feel a little stupid for forgetting he was my Dad..." The group fell silent for a short while. No one wanted to say or do anything...no one wanted to mention it. If they laughed...they'd seem bad. His dad was killed and that thing he said would never be fulfilled, so they remained quiet. But then, a quiet cackle broke the silence. Everyone looked around to see who was brave enough to laugh at the comedic, yet tragic story. And what do you know, Yuri was that one person to laugh. This is why he is strange in many ways...
Yuri's 3DMG Theme He crouched down in a small squatting position. To his right, a few trainees began to take their own positions. All of them had goggles implanted onto their faces, protecting their eyes from wind and debris. Meanwhile, when he looked beyond them, he saw that the real soldiers had no eye protection. Really, it wasn't necessary. In somewhere where it was filled with towns and bricks, you aren't exactly going to get thwapped in the eye by a branch. So in that case, Yuri removed his own eye protection. It didn't matter, Arek wasn't there to watch over them. He was busy attending the Forest section. He remained crouched as he saw the left podium be taken by an instructor. He had in his hand, a sound flare. They were usually a standard issue to the Survey Corps, but more recently they were being sent to the Garrison, Military Police and even the Trainee instructors as used for signalling. He lifted the arm, bearing the handcannon. The finger slowly pressed down on the trigger, signalising the training's beginning. Yuri waited, everyone went ahead and began to spiral with a smokey trail of gas behind themselves. He waited for everyone to be ahead. It was a good plan, this wasn't even a race. Looking to the left, he saw a free street. Perfect. He flung himself leftwards and stretched his arm, firing the hook outwards. He begged in his mind as the world slowed down, hoping it would hook or he would have fallen doom to the 2 story fall below. To his luck, there was definitely enough range for him to grip, flinging him with such gravitational force that it took him by surprise. The young-man was flung into the street as he quickly began to shoot one grapple after another. It was high-speed action. It was the lifetime he was waiting for. He was actually doing it. The world was so different at these heights. He let out a cheer for excitement as he kept finding himself narrowly flinging himself through the street, turning corners to enter different ones. Other trainees and soldiers found themselves repeating his actions and spiralling around. He waited, noticing he hadn't used his gas. Suddenly pulling the igniter, he was flung with even more speed. This was the life...this was the life...
