Ioannes noticed that the Demon's body was being more easily destroyed than usual, even with the magic that now coated him and his sword, while the Demon's own blade was beginning to glow. It didn't take an above average intelligence to realize that this was a ruse; the Demon must be preparing some sort of spell!

The young man had limited experience with Magic, mostly coming from those Mamlukes who can be trusted to train in the arcane arts; which were few. Nevertheless, glowing swords were not a good omen. And so, Ioannes moved to cut off the hand that held said glowing sword, slashing upwards, trying to disrupt whatever spell Zargon was casting.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the guards around The Scholar being attacked by yet [i]another[/i] demon; hopefully, Ioanathan would be up to the task of guiding the defense...
