The lasting sense of dread and weariness filled the ship as they ran for their lives from the swarm of Sekváls, the fleshy pink beings with venomous fangs and small beady eyes, that were hot on their tail since they first made contact three days ago. They rarely gave the crew time to detect them either, always appearing from the warp, materialising like a fish leaping from water. In the wake of this continual battle, there had been some damage to the ship, of that anyone was sure, as well as several new twisted masses of metal that would act as tombs for the Sekváls that had been on their tail. Shaso͞on had chosen to spend much of this time meditating in his quarters, a former storage closet that gave him enough space to sit and peer into the Ulnar. From his quarters he could feel the exhaustion creeping up on the warriors he served with, their minds thrumming with exasperated sighs at the sight of every Sekválian ship that fell out of warp and opened fire. Not all of them could find rest through the calming of the mind, most, if not all of the crew, having to lay down for several hours to find energy and repair their bodies. Shaso͞on had spent much of the past few days in meditation, knowing he was of little help to the Marauders in most of these firefights. He had been toying with an idea of what he could do if this onslaught continued and was beginning to lean towards the act of leaving the ship to infiltrate one of the Sekválian ships. He hadn't yet made his thoughts known, in part because he had yet to find a common tongue between himself and the warriors for what they called the Sekváls and in part because he was sure his act would be denied if he gave the others time to think about it. Though he was sitting in his quarters, the walls of his domain were far more expansive than that of a typical storage closet, his mind having slipped from the material world into the Ulnar. When moving through the void, the connection to the Ulnar became less clear, though with work Shaso͞on had found a way to immerse himself into it as deeply as one could. He had to inject the entirety of his consciousness into the Ulnar in order to clearly interpret what the Shakseer had to offer. Shaso͞on could feel the minds of all who were aboard the ship now in utter clarity. The minds of the Marauders were tumultuous and thoughts seemed fragmented, amplified by the deprivation of sleep. He could sense some of their pains and he knew of their wills to live. His thoughts lingered on touching their minds with a sense of peace and calm to soothe the tensions, but withdrew himself before he attempted to alter the minds of his new brothers and sisters. He began to withdraw from the Ulnar at that moment, feeling the lingering hunger begining to gnaw at him, and as he slipped from the Ulnar back into his humble quarters, he caught the sense of something coming. Many things coming. "ALERT. ALERT. ENEMY SPACECRAFTS DETECTED." Shaso͞on's large emerald eyes opened wide and he was quickly moving, donning his urellian cuffs and clasp as well as he hooded cloak, all of which linked into the armour he had been wearing since their mission three days prior. The door slid open, nudged open slightly faster with a shove of his hand and a push of energy. His lithe form shot through the metallic corridors, his hands adjusting and activating his clasp and cuffs as he moved. An burst of blue light appeared around him for only a moment before hexagonal fractals shimmered and disappeared around him, his shield up and ready to take whatever would be sent his way. "Raymond Chase," His stern ethereal voice reached out into the mind of Raymond. Shaso͞on shot around another corner, reaching the first door of a two stage system to the void around them. His fingers clamped down onto the release button, setting off a warning klaxon before opening up and allowing him to step into the intermediate section. The door sealed behind him, the klaxon silencing once it shut. "Releasing the starboard airlock. I will meet one of their ships head on and gather information. Do your best not to confuse me with the enemy," He spoke, his voice now slipping into the minds of the entire ship. The airlock slid open, the air shrieking as it rushed from the room into the void of space. Shaso͞on spilled out into the silent void, floating and twisting until he had stabilised and with some focus, sent controlled bursts of psionic energy from his cuffs to propel him forward toward the incoming ships. And then he simply ceased moving. To the incoming ships he would look like a corpse floating free. Most races had never met a Ju'yavāl. Less had seen what they were capable of. His shield could briefly insulate him from the cold. His lack of orifices removed the risk of destroying his organs. His body's need to feed on cosmic radiation was an added bonus. Raymond had seen him do this maneuver once before, early on in his tenure with the Marauders, so that reduced the chance of his efforts being hindered by friendly fire.
