Bernard frowned, suddenly unhappy. He wasn't serious about it, and based on the cashier's knowing smirk, that guy had known he wasn't serious and was laughing at him for being taken so. So, disgruntled and feeling a little guilty, he ordered his hot chocolate- it didn't escape his notice that whipped cream and some nuts were added without him saying- and then hesitated as the man brought it back over. The cashier arched and eyebrow, and Bernard decided to order a small plate of a half dozen random, varied pastries. And now the cashier was watching him with less amusement and more interest, as he made his way from the counter, after paying, and to the young woman's small table. He stood next to the chair opposite of her, and apologized. "I'm sorry miss. I didn't mean to come off as a little rude, just... a little playful, I suppose. To be fair, I can't even stand the taste of coffee. If you'll allow me to sit, I'll share my recently purchased pastries with you. And, again, my apologies for being a jerk."
