Nightstar
As the bell rung, Stephanie Brown decided it would be best to move ahead with today's class. After studying months of Shakespeare and learning the techniques and traditions of Elizabethan theater it was time to announce the school's production for this year. While Stephanie was aware that the rumors circulating campus was that the class would be putting together a modernist take on Macbeth, she had something quite different in store for her students. "As many of you know, the next step in this class is to audition for the upcoming production. While I have heard the whispers through the grapevine that many of you believe this year's play will be a take on Macbeth, I'm here to announce that you've been sadly mistaken." From her desk, Miss Brown picked up her tablet, pressing her thumb against the scanner as the screen illuminated and unlocked. Turning the device around, a cover that could have passed for parody artwork stared back at the class. "This year, we'll be doing a production of Ian Doescher's 'William Shakespeare's Star Wars Verily, A New Hope'." Miss Brown said as several gasps of shock and excitement escaped the class in front of her. Mari felt a slight smirk cross her lips as she cocked her head to get a look at Freddie. There was no doubt in her mind that Freddie's inner Brit was raging and ready to burst forth and bring the fury of a thousand burning teas on Miss Brown. "At least it's still 'Shakespeare." Mari muttered out of the corner of her mouth. Her body quivering slightly with silent mirth as the words left her. Making eye contact with Tanya, Mari tilted her head towards the tablet and mouthed the word 'Who' towards her. In all honesty Mari had no interest in auditioning for a role. She'd prefer to be backstage if at all possible but as part of the class she at least have to audition for a main role whether she got it or not. The obvious choice was naturally Princess Leia, there was after all a limit on female characters present in the original Star Wars, or at all now that Mari thought about it. To be honest, her excitement towards the project was almost genuine. As much as Mari did like to distance herself from her parents, at part of her was soft for the nostalgia of her father making her watch every one of the films even though her mother couldn't stand the inaccuracies about space travel and general life in space. "I've sent a copy of the play to each one of you. I suggest you take this class time to break into groups and begin reading together, try switching roles every few scenes to allow yourself the chance to try each of the cast out." Miss Brown's voice broke into Mari's thoughts as she turned her attention back to the front of the class. "Auditions will begin a week from today, I have attached the specific scenes I want read for each character so please give them a look over as well." Pausing she looked at the class again. "But most importantly, have fun with it!" Returning behind her desk, Stephanie sat down before waving her hands towards the class. "Well go on, the time is yours now. That's all I have for you today." Turning to Freddie and Tanya, Mari motioned for the three of them to pull a couple desks together as she looked around the class to see if there was anyone else. Eyeing up Casey, Mari waved towards him before calling out to him. "Yo Greenie, you want to read with us?"
