I'm believe Iatos was already accepted before since the S Class exam arc. It was Wes and Iatos's character (sorry that I can't remember the name) that participated and fought in one match and was the start of where Wes went missing. Which by the way Iatos, Wes is back but left the guild.

You could continue with your old character or make a new character if you want. Either choice is okay.
