Still just floating ideas but I'm imagining some sort of Cyberpunk world in 2129, where a group of dangerous and skilled individuals are summoned to a bar, to solve some sort of a mystery/crime/problem.

The world would be futuristic but the tone and feel would be very much 1950s L.A. speech and clothing mixed with a taste of 1980s retrowave music and culture.

Now I wont be able to pull this off by myself, I'd invite a Co-GM or even a main GM to take this idea over, but its something I'd love to see come to life if any of you like it.

Nothing really. A cyber-punk Noire sounds kind of fun. I guess the only thing I'd like to see is to make sure to include lots of mysteries and all that in it. I really like Noire-type mysteries.

I would love to join in this! Especially as a co-GM!

(inb4: don't bother with my postcount, I'm new here but NOT new to writing)
Although, I'm not 100% sure you and I would be on the same track, so I wanna ask a few questions:
I love mysteries and fiction but the stories often end up getting tied around a single, centralized player and then die.
Or they'll be too sandboxy. How do you plan on preventing that?

Magic? Guns? Magic guns? Neither and solely driven on character development?

Mysteries; Killer? Monster maker? Antagonist ideas other than a plot?

In short; plot ideas? I love worldbuilding and I'm fantastic at it if I do say so myself.

I'd love to be in this if it gets under way. I'm more of a casual writer than an advanced so I'll have to try a bit harder to get involved, if that's alright? Last cyberpunk RP I was in I really enjoyed and I got about 20 decent posts in before the GM had to drop it due to personal life issues. Still managed to do a quest, drop my character off a 5 storey building and put her through hell. xD

I personally don't know how I would be as a GM or Co-GM. I haven't had much luck with running groups of people with several of the ones I started sort of dropping off the radar.

In regards to questions, I know that one person above mentioned magic, but I would prefer there to be little magic if any (Possible Psyonic abilities at most). Cyberpunk is supposed to be about a semi realistic world designed around technology and energy that has advanced yet kept that older charm, not fantasy with spells and such. A hover car may exist but it'll carry that vintage car look.

You could have a bit of a gangland plot where a group of people are slowly taking over a city, oppressing the people, bribing police, and performing thuggery to get their ways. Perhaps a group of people maybe smuggling in cybernetics, robotics or weapons into the city. Perhaps there was a war several years ago and war veterans with enhancements who are having trouble coping with life.

So what I'm thinking is not too distant future guns, but a very derelict cyberpunk world based on maybe a seedy L.A./Chicago atmosphere with some japanese influence for good measure.

The GM would be some sort of Contractor who works at the bar, and rounds up a group of skilled individuals to do jobs which will range from vigilante good, to morally questionable. And all these 'missions' will be based around some sort of major murder or robbery. I'd love to bounce some ideas off in building the city with you.

There wont be any magic but I'm open to having 'unexplained occurrences' no monsters, but the occasional mutant freak will be okay.

And obviously the world will have a kickass soundtrack and even more kickass clothing :)

I like the idea of a central Hub area for people to start up and work towards. It sounds like the ideas from Constantine and John Wick where the main character in those (Heh... Both Keanu Reeves) is an exclusive member to those clubs with the outside world not knowing what goes on behind the closed doors.

Talking about the missions, would it be an idea that a player could select their own contracts and maybe venture off on their own for a bit, or work together with another player for a joint exercise. Later on a character could cross paths with another character on a separate mission and choose to perhaps work together to complete it. It might be easier from a GM stand point where the GM is giving the roleplayer the option of what to do in the world rather than telling them, thus they as players can select their own course of action and get developed within their own characters.

In the end, if done right, you'll have a world with a spiderweb of individual stories that all connect back to this one club, much like a real life situation.

@FantasyChic@Thaddeus Dron@Izuriel Steam

I was talking to @Dynamo Frokane through PM just asking about a few things. If you guys are happy for it, would you mind if I gave the GM position a shot? Dynamo has said he would be happy in running as Co-GM rather than take the full reigns.

I was thinking of utilizing what I mentioned above with players getting a bit more choice on their actions rather than an over arching linear story. It'll give people a bit of freedom to interact with each other, but they'll always have their main contract job to fall back on. Upon completion we can discuss new contracts for each player, but it'll be the player that gets the choice with what to do next, not a GM telling you what to do.

Locking in interest.
Pretty keen!

Question time,
Future tech:
Are there human enhancements/ implants?
Addictive drug stimulants that grant above ordinary abilities?

Story line:
Where would these missions come from?
Is it simply a back alley merc-for-hire situation where they take on any contracts and keep a percent of the profit?
Is it a single organization seeking some purpose?

Housing:
Live at the base or own places?

I know some of it was mentioned above but just looking for confirmation.

@vietmyke sorry looks like this idea has sort of fallen apart, Its my own fault really I wasn't able to fully commit to GMing so i was basically hoping someone would 'take the idea off my hands'.

Just out of interest though, I have a current Warplanes RP that is looking for a new player in my sig.

And also I'm thinking of rebooting my legendary dating sim rp

@Dynamo Frokane

Would you still be happy to do this if I took up the position of GM/Co-GM? I was thinking of the whole thing being wrapped up in a mystery, but for the details (even about the RP) to be exchanged via PM. Like a very 'murder mystery' type thing. If you're dropping this idea, do you mind if I take it and craft my own RP out of it?
