There is Abelle, the background character. She's a pretty enough thing, elegant of course, but she is rarely noticed, except maybe as a passing patron going back or forth between the buildings or in the square. Abelle lives in the background, never venturing forth, never having more than a bit part, never being anything except part of the crowd. But she's alright with that. What people don't seem to realize is that by being a background character, Abelle is very knowledgeable about what goes on in the city she lives in, who is cheating on who, and what really gets people hot under the collar. It's what makes her a perfect shadow ruler... If she ever had the drive to do such things. It was not as if Abelle was not meant for this kind of destiny; to be the main character, the princess who needed to be rescued, the love interest of a hero, something grand like that, which would involve far more lines and story... However, there is one major flaw with the woman. She cannot sing, and that is a huge requirement for anyone beyond the background role. The hero sings, the Queen sings, even the bad guy sings. But not Abelle. She hums, but she cannot understand tone or pitch of songs, so the city wizard assigned her to the role of background character when she was a wee babe. Instead, she was given the perfect background job of someone with her other charms, most of which revolve around her looks, gentle nature, and organization skills. Abelle is a librarian at the palace, which is one of the easiest jobs, as no royals ever come visit her, and no one uses the place except scholars trying to find one line, in one book, five volumes back, in the seventh row, and never mind they'll go get it themselves, they know where it is. So her job is insanely easy, she makes a pretty penny doing it, and she isn't half bad looking. Her sugary pink hair gently curls down part of her back, her passionate pink eyes light up when she's interested in something, and her lips are always tainted a soft rosy pink, tempting and inviting, but rarely offering. It never seems like she has a sexual interest in men according to those she spends time with, but she can often be found with one, escorting him around, or being lead to a building because she's lost her way once more. She's kind of dumb, sadly... And innocent, and naive... Or that's what she wants people to believe. There's a secret side that Abelle doesn't show to anyone, mostly because no one pays attention to her. It's why she's so good at the double life and loves being a background character. As the saying goes, it's always the quiet ones, right? Abelle is quiet normally, but at night, she's meeting up with the warlocks, sorcerers, the "bad" magical folks. She serves both sides, the good and the bad, and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty if that means she can operate behind the scenes and still make it out on top. Will anyone stop Abelle? Will anyone even believe that she's the one going around plotting the next scheme, the next murder, or even the next crime? Who knows. Current ideas include plotting to destroy the kingdom and failing, being saved from corruption, or being deceived by the bad guys and having to start over somewhere else.
