Do you intend to make a new CS or keep the old one?

I don't see anything wrong with the old one. Can you think of anything?

Not really. Only thing I can think of would be a possible modification of how people claim territories to make it more concrete... but the format itself I see nothing wrong.

I initially thought of taking the old CS and reusing it, but I think I'll rebuild it a bit for clarification and expansion.

History: The idea is simple. Some NPC-faction (or playable faction, it doesn't really matter) setup a research facility (was thinking on north pole of Mars). The idea was simple. To make robot soldiers but there are a few problems with that. For one they have to be 'human enough' to understand orders & make tactics on the field. But they cannot be too much human or they will start thinking about the unusefull stuff like morality and right & wrong.

Long story short, the research was nearing completion but had to be shut down due to various reasons. All but 1 AI were erased. That one was put into a "sleepmode" and ordered to wake up after years. The AI got the nickname Eve. When Eve woke up, she started looking for other AI within the facility's 'digital world'. While in the physical world she used a Frame to clean up the base. When she failed to find full AI she began to piece together code she found in combination with her own Source Code. Thus more AI were created.

How it all works:
There are 3 vital parts to make a Progedi (name I chose for them).

The Quantum AI: To simulate the brain, the AI was produced to work on a node of a Quantum Server. You could say that this is the soul of my people.
The Proxy AI: A slimmed down version of the Quantum AI. The Proxy AI works with normal processors and contain a basic set of commands if they cannot connect to the Quantum AI. Proxy AI's are loaded into AI Cores.
The Frame: The frame can be seen as the body. Without an AI Core a Frame is useless. Once a Core is loaded in, the Proxy takes control of the Frame and starts communication with the Quantum AI on the Quantum Server. So indirectly the Quantum AI controls the Frame. If the communication between the proxy and the quantum AI breaks, the Proxy makes sure the Frame continues to operate. But at a far less tactical level. Proxies who are disconnected to their AI will make a single push (if they observe that their numbers is greater), remain in cover (if numbers of hostiles are equal to number of nearby operational Frames) or pull back (if the numbers are greater).

Goverment:
A true democracy. All decissions affecting the Progedi can easily be put to vote. Progedi are not obligted to vote on everything. But if they have free processing time, they will. Voting happens entirely digital so the results are in in a second. Also no Progedi AI is seen as a leader. Voting on something happens when a Progedi gathered about 10% of convinced Progedi.

Social:
As said, there is no leader. Nor rank. Memories and observations can be shared freely. Though each AI doesn't have infinite memory so not all AIs posses the memories of other AIs. In fact most will request the memories only once they become relevant. Observations are freely shared. Progedi are not obligated to overview Observations. Observations can clash and so a dialogue can form. For example: one AI's frame encounters a human settlement and is well received. Another AI's frame walks the deserts of Mars but gets destroyed by human raiders. Both AI will publish their observation. AI 1 will say humans are safe. AI 2 will say humans are dangerous. Observations will clash and circumstances will reviewed. More date will have to be collected. Both AI's accept this.

Disadvantages:
youth & numbers - the Progedi are relativily young and lack many Observations from outside their home facility. There are also a set number of Quantum Servers with each a set number of Server Nodes which can house AIs. There are also a small number of Frames right now. the Progedi will be forced to expand and learn quickly.

Repopulation - the development of a Quantum AI takes time. As does the creation of his Proxy. In the physical world, AI Cores & Frames will have to be made.

Ok first I love your ideas Legion02! I don't think a fully formed AI race fits into the dirty-sci-fi feel of FACTION however. What I propose is this:

Long before Man got to Mars and started terraforming a sentient race of aliens did in fact exist on Mars. They built civilizations 'neath the surface because of the atmospheric conditions-but built one hell of a computer system to regulate environmental conditions, agricultural processes and of course mining. Now these aliens died way before civilization arose on earth so almost all trace of them is gone. But they left their computers behind..Somewhere in the alien code an AI began to form. Nobody is sure how or if the aliens meant to develop AI but nonetheless something popped up and survived whatever cataclysm destroyed the original Martians.

The idea was simple. To make robot soldiers but there are a few problems with that. For one they have to be 'human enough' to understand orders & make tactics on the field. But they cannot be too much human or they will start thinking about the unusefull stuff like morality and right & wrong.
Legion02

When it first came into contact with/noticed human networks it remained undetected and has managed to learn alot about humans. It has been working on how to build a more 'human' looking sentient unit for hundreds of years before it makes official contact with humans.

Anyways that's what I'm thinking for your 'AI' race. We would have to work out the nuances of the alien species (because the original programming would be greatly influenced by the species) and work that in somehow too. And figure out what they ultimately want on mars. More resources to build more units? Total destruction? Figure out what the heck happened to the original Martians?

I like the idea. I'll probably use the creation story. In a way. Though I'm not entirely sure about that having observed humans for very long. They can speak english & such. But the idea would be that they start out small and a bit in the dark. Working merely to grow (in isolation while diplomatic ties are maintained with the humans). I do have an idea of what they want as long term goal. Also, I'll explain more about Frames later maybe. As there are a few standard Chassis. And one such Chassis is completely built to look human merely for diplomatic reasons.

Putting up my idea for Tactics/Wander

POV 1:
A Martian dockworker mechanic named Jason Wander wakes up one day with three years of his life blacked out from his memory, a series of cybernetic implants in his spine and brain, and a cybernetic right eye connected to his brain where a former Skyguard Tactical Artifical Intelligence now resides, and now offers his only chance of survival.

POV2:
A Skyguard AI named Tactics wakes up one day with only fragmentary memory of its previous service life, it's safety and loyalty software all completely erased, and now residing within a single human brain when it is supposed to require a starship's quantum computer core to operate effectively. It is a free machine, with the cooperation of it's human host who is now it's core processor and only lifeline.

The two have no choice but to work together to survive and hide from Skyguard's prying eyes and tech-watchdogs. With their combined skills, Tactics/Wander set up a roving mercenary company, selling themselves as a "automated army for hire" while hunting down clues on how they came together, who could possibly devise cybernetics that can cram a quantum AI into a human brain, and how to prepare for the inevitable Skyguard retaliation when their true existence is revealed.

Overarching mentality: Survival and Exploration.
Tactics/Wander want answers on how they came together, but surviving and building up their forces takes priority over that. Wander wants to live, Tactics wants to live, they really are not motivated by anything more than that. And that makes them very ruthlessly pragmatic in ensuring their survival.

Secondary Mentality: Spanner in the Works
Being mercenaries, I expect Tactics/Wander to end up in other player's conflicts and struggles. While Tactics can't make extensive use of his abilities lest Skyguard catch wind of him, the duo can come up with plans to cause problems for everyone. And simply being able to mobilize another couple hundred robotic infantry and mechs not aligned to any faction or government ought to cause a few power imbalances by itself.

Force Loadout: The bulk of the Dirty Deeds Mercenaries are made of salvaged bots and mechs from the junkyards and abandoned colonies of Mars, along with as much as they can steal from Skyguard and corporate boneyards and mothball warehouses of obsolete military tech. Wander is very good at jury-rigging solutions, while Tactics provides military-grade programming and hacking skills beyond what mere mercenaries should be able to acquire.

By no means are Tactics/Wander's jury-rigged automated infantry and mechs a real match for actual military forces, trained human troops, or professionally manufactured weapons in a fair fight. But Tactics/Wander can simply build more in the junkyards of Mars whenever their company is trashed, and choose not to fight fair to begin with. (Amazing what you can do with a RC-car or plane and some explosives.) But they ultimately don't have the firepower or will to fight stand-up large scale battles.

I've decided to be an Rogue Covert Infiltration team from Skyguard. Were cut off in the confusion, then alot of the underground assets and and a quarter of team personel killed by opposing factions.

The leader decided to go awall, and instead use all the back door information they've gathered to keep themselves in power.

Something like that anyways. Basically the group would be an large double agent conspiracy with goals to influence Mars regime. At least that will be how it would start out. >_>

Once the CS sheet format is decided I'll have fun fleshing everything out to the T.

@Skylar I'm going to say it right now but the Progedi would be VERY interested in how an Quantum AI like Tactic got inside the brain of a mere human.

@CowboyCommando I got a question, would you mind that a small recon force stumbled on my pole facility but were killed? You said yourself that a part of their personel got killed.

Tactics/Wander may want to make some discrete purchases as funds permit.

Anyone want to hire a brigade of mechanized infantry? Effective, adaptable, and can easily recover from losses. And possessing programming and hacking skills a couple steps above and beyond your average merc group.
