Midgard, The Golden Knights

Appearance: Name: Ragnar (Individually), Legion (Collectively) Age: Individual ages varies, but they have been serving as The Golden Knights for the last five years, and have been in the service of the Imperium for at least twenty. Older records imply they may be at least a hundred years old, but this is suspect at best. History (Optional): The personal history of the one known as "Ragnar" has been lost to the time, though bits and pieces are still left for those who wish to seek it. Ragnar was like any other young student: he picked up his tome and wished to learn how to access it's great power. But Ragnar was a lonely man, not out of choice, but out of ideal: He thought that he could cooperate with others to change the world. But often each alliance he forges would break under pressure, from in-fighting, or to time itself. In the end Ragnar had no one to rely on but himself. And it was all he needed, when his Tome Manifested itself as Legion: All that he needed in one person. What began of the original Ragnar, no one knows for certain aside from those within the top echelons of Nifilhiem. What is known, however, is that Ragnar lives on through his Legion. His Legion is comprised entirely of his own clones, created by his tome. The Legion has served the Imperium loyalty for many, many years. Everything from simply infantry to bodyguards of the Emperors and Empresses themselves, they have earned their loyalty through deeds and action everywhere. In recent history the entire Legion have been given the title of the Golden Guardian, comprising of each and every member of the Legion, spreading their influence pratically everywhere they were. The Legion is a constant presence, regardless of what other Guardians or political parties wish. They always travel within groups of fives, even when only one is needed. These mighty warriors uphold the laws of the Imperium, but also serve to defend it's citizens from it's corrupted elements or from vile monsters. There are of course those who decry the Legion for being a tyrannical hand of the Imperium, with no oversight and no way to challenge their authority if they too become corrupt. The Legion denies the possibilities, but it is certain that short of the Emperor and the other guardians, they have an absolute hold over the lands they govern. And their influence covers the land like the sun's rays. Personality: Getting the personality of Ragnar is impossible thanks to their tome: there are hundreds if not thousands of Ragnars around the world, each operating for the Imperium in whatever capacity is needed. Generally speaking, each Ragnar is polite and quiet, but also highly professional. They will not hesitate to use their authority to remove annoyances and generally do not hesitate to cut down criminals, regardless of the severity of their crimes. They do show some form of mercy, though only before hostilities: Once they draw their weapons, death will be done. That being said, Ragnar is also very helpful, and assuming that they are not currently occupied with a task or they are not doing something of importance (Which they always are, but there are rare times they are not) they are more than willing to personally help you with a task. Ragnar has an unnerving mechanical efficiency, but they function when they work, and make sure that everything runs smoothly. Individual personalities of Ragnars varies by location, time spent away from the Imperium, and other outside factors. Generally they all refer to themselves as Ragnar, even when they meet another, though they also take on titles, alias, pseudonymous, and nicknames as long as they are appropriate and for convenience. Tome (Color and Abilities): Legion, "All From One" Legion is a white/gold tome that is deceptively plain despite it's colors. It is bound in some sort of white leather with golden pages, each one depicting a coat of arms, followed by lines of some sort of language not known. These pages is actually information about each individual Ragnar, and it contains everything from their memories, what happened to them, and their very identities. Each Ragnar contains a copy of the Tome, though they can only create new Rangars when two or more have gathered together, or when there is only one Rangar left. The first and main ability of the Legion Tome is the ability to create copies of it's user, specifically Ragnar. The power to create more copies can only be done where there is only one Tome left, or when two or more are gathered in close proximity to one another. This allows for an exponential increase in clones when more than one Tome is created: When near another, each tome can create one clone. And when those clones are made, they too cane create their own clone, until there is a veritable civilization of clones at one's disposal. The clones themselves all share the same mind and memories that each has, even when they are apart, allowing them to learn and know what each clone does (And all of that information is contained within the tome itself). Even should a clone be killed, the same cone could be made again by recreating the clone from the book. Legion has a secondary ability made to ensure the survival of it's clones, which manifests as a sort of divine armor. This armor, which not only serves as their uniform, provides them protection from harm, by physical and magical, as well as bolstering their physical abilities and granting them supportive powers, particularly flight and the ability to produce a (mostly harmless but blinding) light. Alone a single Ragnar is capable of superhuman feats of strength, speed, and endurance, and has magical abilities to bolster the effectiveness of others, including increasing their strength, healing them, and even temporarily linking them to the memory of Legion and learning a few skills from them. Other: Ragnar is skilled in a variety of skills and techniques, and not all of them combative. Many Ragnars serve as doctors and healers, even chefs and construction workers, as an attempt to get closer to the people and be seen as a fellow citizen, rather than a detached guardsman. That being said each Ragnar is more than capable of fighting for themselves, with a multitude of weapons or even unarmed. Nearly all Ragnars carry a weapon however, typically just to serve as a means of self-defense. Generally it is a single-edged sword, with a pronounced blunt side which they can use to suppress their foes without the same level of deadliness as a blade. They also carry crossbows for ranged combat with a different assortment of arrowheads to deal with different threats. Just about every settlement controlled by the Imperium would have two Ragnars overseeing them, with larger cities having five or more. They generally leave governing and management to the proper authorities however, and occupy themselves by keeping the peace, maintaining the law, and training others to do the same. There are patrols consisting of other Ragnars who have more fluid duties, assisting or advising as necessity demands.
