This made his family life complex, as each of his siblings fought for power and influence to earn their father's place when he would finally falter. Rainer would find himself quite talented at the art of intrigue and spying, if only because of his main hobby: book keeping. Rainer spent much of his childhood outside of mandatory lessons in the family library, reading from their great tomes or keeping everything in check. This allowed Rainer to avoid his sibling's feuds as they eliminated each other one-by-one, until he was 15 years old. Though Rainer never showed any interest in his sibling's feud, he was one of the more skilled siblings simply because he focused on his studies over undermining his sibling's abilities. When his younger brother, the seventh child and the last eligible to take their father's place, came to confront Rainer, he was challenged to a battle of wits and war. The conditions were simple: Each would lead an army of 100 men against one another, and fight until one was the victor. The battle was to be fought using only men personally gathered by the brothers: they could not call upon soldiers from the Imperium, only mercenaries or other volunteers. Rainer's brother was well antiquated to a group of warriors specializing in their tomes. Individual each were more than a match against Rainer, who himself was a skilled by unseasoned warrior. But Rainer put his faith into a simple but trained group of mercenaries, none of whom actually had a tome, but fought together as an army before. Rainer's forces were considerably inferior to his brothers, both individually and collectively. But Rainer did not merely rely on his men as much as his brother did. Their battle took place in a mountain pass, where Rainer's brother thought he could trap Rainer's army between the valleys. But Rainer was not so foolish to willingly march his army against his brother; instead he used himself as bait and be surrounded by his brother's army. When they came, Rainer released a signal to have his army collapse the mountains around him with thunder and fire, crushing his brother's army underneath the stone. Rainer himself escaped unharmed thanks to his ability to calculate the direction which the rocks would fall, and positioning himself at a spot where not even a spec of dirt would fall on him. With his brother's army destroyed while his own had barely taken to the field, Rainer was deemed an appropriate heir to his father's legacy, and chosen as the leader of the house. Rainer would serve the Imperium as an adviser and strategist for many years, and it wasn't until he was 30 that he was elected to become the new Cerulean Guardian. He accepted the promotion and served for ten years, before he stepped down to raise an heir for himself. However he was soon called back into service barely ten years later, after the previous Cerulean Guardian proved to be inferior to Rainer himself. He accepted his position once more, and intends to serve until he too is no longer fit to be the guardian. But that doesn't seem to be an issue he'll worry about anytime soon. Personality: Rainer is a humble man, even for the Cerulean Guardian. He's something of the voice of reason among the Guardians, trying his best to minimize destruction and costs. However Rainer is a natural manipulator and liar, often having others do his bidding either through pure authority or false promises. He generally tries to keep everyone's best interest in mind, but he's all too aware that he cannot save everyone, and prepares accordingly. Personally, Rainer likes keeping things profession as his station requires, but he's not all work. Outside of his office he's a jovial man with a sweet tooth and an interest in modern entertainment. He still does his book keeping as an odd hobby of his, and can be quite embarrassed when others see him cataloging on his own. He's quite coddling to his friends and family, because he knows that when times are hard it would be his own loved ones that would suffer the most from his decisions, so he tries to show them love when he can. Rainer dislikes violence and prefers the arts and creating things. Tome (Color and Abilities): The Azure Grimore, "Boundary of Knowledge" The Azure Grimore, as it's name would imply, is a thick blue book with white pages. It has a fancy white embroidery on the edges and corners, and each page is written with meticulous handwriting. The book's pages itself is constantly blank if the user does not know how to use the book, and it's intentionally like that thanks to it's powers. The Azure Grimore is a mysterious tome because Rainer himself does his best to keep it's abilities secretive. The book itself grants him Psychic powers: Telepathy, telekinesis, astral projections, scrying, and much more thanks to his experience and training. When the book is in use the pages begin to glow and each page contains a unique rune of some purpose and meaning. Rainer is capable of using to book to focus his power all over the world, effortlessly diving into the thoughts and memories of anyone he could see with his minds eye. He could manipulate objects without making contact with them, and could easily throw around people as if they were merely toys. The Azure Grimore also has a secondary function of being able to contain and infinite amount of text, and copying the contents of other books or tomes, should the Azure Grimore come into contact with them. This makes the book invaluable for the Nifilhiem, as it can (And does) contain all the information they have collected, ever. The Azure Grimore does not have any other forms aside from it's typical tome shape, though it can be shrunken to make it easier to carry. Rainer often does, and has it hidden someone intimate on his person. Other: Rainer owns a twin set of short spears called "Shock" and "Awe", his personal weapons for war. As their name would imply they have an elemental affinity towards electricity. Rainer can use these spears to give someone a powerful shock, one that could either leave them paralyzed or kill them outright. It was the weapons of his father, created from his own tome. Rainer keeps both on his person at all times. He also owns his own providence in the Imperium in which he has an absolute authority, where he could even challenge the other guardians if they infringe on his lands. However he maintains an amicable relationship with them and allows them to operate as appropriate on behalf the imperium.
