While the teams were still debating over what to do, LT received an automated report from Orihime. It seemed some of the cables were being detached, or somehow going inactive in the station. That meant whatever was left of the power was being wasted, and not sent to areas that needed life support and light. LT made a split decision. "Yoruha, I'm taking my team down to the power generators. Something's interfering with the power transmissions. This station is falling apart, I'd wager we don't have long before all the atmo is gone. We'll do something about that and life support. I'll keep you posted." With that, LT made a short transmission to his team. "Form up in the hangar bay. We're leaving in three. Make sure you're fully loaded. Hephaestus, I want you overloading that cannon of yours. Grab whatever scrap you can find and get it melting. Something tells me we're going to be here a while." Three minutes later on the dot, TN-201 was moving down the left corridor that still had lighting. LT and CQ had the lead, Tess and Hephaestus were second in line, and Slate and Ralph were further back, bringing up the rear. They moved steadily, keeping an eye on the corridor and on the ventilation shafts. It wasn't long before- "Contact!" Three of the mutated beings were rushing down the corridor. BAM! One of three went down, a large hole in its head. Soon after several thumps could be heard as Hephaestus fired his cannon, taking down another of them with super heated plasma that hit like a truck. Finally, LT let loose two bursts from his rifle, severing the legs of the final attacker. LT nodded to CQ, who sent a small transmission equivalent to a grin. She walked up to the disabled bodies and let loose with her flamethrower. In seconds they were charred and writhing, the bodies trying to reanimate and continue attacking. But the fire fried their nerves and melted their muscles, and in seconds the three bodies were truly nothing more than that - bodies. LT radioed back to base. "TN-201L reporting, we had contact with three tangoes. All green on this end. Still recommend disposing of the bodies, fire seems to do the trick. They're tough to keep down. Over and out." For several minutes it went like that, the team moving forward and taking out the mutants as they came. For the most part Slate, LT and Hephaestus did most of the killing, leaving the cleanup to CQ. Tess, for her part, was collecting samples to do independent analysis on later, and taking diagnostics when they passed by any terminals. Ralph at one point stopped two mutants from sneaking up on them, giving Slate the time to pull away before they overwhelmed him. Between Ralph's foot and Slate's rifle, they were on their way again and even more wary of attacks from behind. In 20 minutes time they had reached the Power Generators. No mutants were in the area, but LT had himself and Hephaestus on guard anyway. Tess was looking at the main terminal hooked up to the generators. "Two of the generators are offline, another two are heavily damaged and leaking radiation. And from the looks of it, power transmission is at an efficiency of 57%. That means the cables are either damaged or disconnected in some places. We've got some work ahead of us if we want to get those up and running again." LT pondered her statements. "Any chance the radiation is keeping the muties away?" Tess shrugged. "Possible but unlikely. They don't seem to have any concern for their well-being, I doubt they'd notice the radiation. I'd say keep an eye out." LT nodded in return. "TN-201L to Firebase, we've found the power generators. They're in rough shape, and some are leaking radiation. Hardsuits are a must here. Repairs are going to be lengthy, and it seems our friends have been munching on the cables. That or they disconnected them somehow. We'll await further orders, but for now we'll hold position and focus on getting some repairs done. Over."
