Nicole would have the worst of luck in these foster homes, never really knowing what an actual loving environment entailed. Upon one case of abuse by one of her foster parents her latent powers came out in a flurry of rage and fear. Scared for her life and confused Nicole left the home for the streets after believing to have killed her foster father.

Down on her luck and in dire straits, Nicole knew that the police department would find her for what she had done; but most of all she was afraid for her life as she feared that Jump City’s anti-metahuman sentiment would catch up with her. It was here that an organization by the name of HIVE approached Nicole with an offer to fix her problems if she joined their organization and its “academy” of sorts.

Fourteen years old and with a chip on her shoulder, Nicole found herself a bit emotionally exhausted upon joining HIVE. Yet in time it began to feel more preferable to the streets of Jump City and the Foster Care system. HIVE agents served as “teachers” at the pseudo-academy she was found in including the likes of super-villains like Doctor Light and many others. Given the callsign of Jinx she soon found herself in league with other youths of similar backgrounds to her own and began relating to them; the first time she had related to anyone in years.

Following the formation of the Justice League’s “Teen Titans”, HIVE mobilizes the students for their revealed purpose: as subversive metahuman terrorists to counteract and infect. Nicole does exceptionally well in this field as she exponentially gains more control of her powers and battles with notable “sidekicks” to some degree of success. The leader of HIVE, Queen Bee is impressed and expands HIVE’s operations due to this fact.

The Teen Titans attempt to infiltrate HIVE, trying to decipher the truth behind their operations; leading this insurgent operation to reveal that Psimon has been telepathically influencing (and by extension, manipulating) the minds of the youths under HIVE’s control. They attempt to break this control, hoping when Psimon is defeated it’d lead to individuals like Jinx being able to think for themselves. Psimon, however, is not so easy to defeat and the Titans are forced to retreat from the facility.

After thinking on the information given to her by one of the Teen Titans, Nicole leaves HIVE with a handful of her friends. This leads to a conflict where Queen Bee sends an agent to retrieve them; Robin of the Titans offers them protective custody for some time. HIVE retaliates against the Titans by sending Deathstroke to show them the futility of their actions. Nicole is dragged back before Queen Bee herself who tortures her for her insolence. A recovering Psimon wipes their memories.

As the effects of Psimon’s mind wipe begin to fade, Jinx becomes infuriated at how she has been controlled and hurt by those she trusted. Nicole looks to war with the HIVE from the inside— giving information to the Teen Titans in the process. After a battle between the Teen Titans that leads Psimon to be captured by the authorities, Nicole decides to use his absence to her advantage. A confrontation in early 2014 leads the Teen Titans and HIVE students to depose Queen Bee. HIVE collapses overnight.

Nicole decides to break out on her own— deciding that she will refuse to be controlled by anyone again and will live her life on her terms. After the defeat of Queen Bee, HIVE is supposedly disbanded. Leading an independent group called The Fearsome Five comprised of her former friends at the academy, Jinx decides to go “independent”.

| Attributes | Magical Conduit - Nicole Diaz is a conduit for magical energy; a fact that allows her to harness it in its rawest form. This allows her to levitate, hurl magical energies as blasts, manipulate probability fields for her benefit, and other abilities within that spectrum. Streetwise - Nicole is physically conditioned due to her upbringing in Jump City, allowing her to be able to utilize parkour-based acrobatics and be hardy enough to take a beating. So this is my second go with her. I’ve pretty much thought two days about Jinx and a few other characters but this one could be the most fun out of my options and it gives me something to do inbetween Wonder Woman posts. Oh, right. Heist stories and fun stuff ahoy. | Sample Post | The meeting was in a run-down church in the “Suicide Slums”, Metropolis’ go-to criminal hotspot, and as the “witch” known as Jinx figured it… things were going pretty well to her. Though it seems her contact for this job was the opposite— she could see it in how he looked behind his back and how he shook. She wasn’t sure if it was due to the increased superhero activities since the whole Doomsday nonsense or if he was a dirty contact. What she had been told to go after was big and the take was pretty good. Her brows narrowed as she moved a strand of pink-dyed hair from her face. “It doesn’t really bother me. A job is a job.” The contractor blinked as he looked at the eighteen year old with some nervousness; to think she would so eagerly go into the devil’s den like that? To rob a joint only around the block from the Hall of Justice on the day of the big man’s funeral and steal something like that with all of the heroes a stone throw away? He couldn’t even fathom it. If he had been the one doing it he would not be able to do it. But he had been paid to be the middleman not the thief; he was glad for that. He was honestly surprised he found someone so eager to do the contract. “Alright then… you have the information of the operation. Any questions?” Jinx smirked, “Where do we make the drop off?” “An unmarked warehouse in the harbor. I’ll mark it down for you.” It was pretty much all set, they just had to make the heist work. But this wasn’t the first job they had ever taken despite it being one of the biggest risks they had went for. It would work— and with the “capes” as distracted as they were there was no way this wasn’t the best opportunity they had for a take like this. She could almost taste it. “Don’t worry; I’m not scared of a bunch of capes.” He nodded as he met her eyes; he had some supplementary information on this girl, but it wasn’t enough to tell him if she was that good or that crazy.
