Anthony De Rossi
Anthony woke up very early that day. It was his first morning living in Lumiose City and if everything went as planned the official first day of his great journey. He had arrived there in the afternoon of the day before after coming a long way from Hoen lured there by his aunt and her promise of a professor that would be giving away pokemon that same afternoon. Anthony had little time to get to know the city the day he arrived as he was too tired from the trip to function properly and spent the little energy he had to tidy the room his aunt had prepared for him and playing with his inseparable companion Jaws before falling asleep early. Because of this he woke up determined to explore what he hoped would become his new home. To help him accomplish his goal and help her around the house his aunt Mary gave him a list of things to do before going to the professor’s event. Anthony complied and took her Furfrou named Sandy for a walk accompanied by Jaws. Mary lived with her husband Roger on the end of the Southern Boulevard next to their restaurant: Restaurant Le Nah. As he calmly walked with Jaws behind the strutting Sandy the pair looked in awe at every single aspect of the city, completely different from what they were used to. The well planned and beautiful city had a feeling of its own without a doubt. He walked Sandy in a long semi-circle around his aunt’s block starting at the boulevard. When he reached Vert Plaza he took a moment to rest while he fed Jaws. As Sandy did her business he noticed Jaws had developed an interest in the green monument. The pair stood in front of it observing. “Impressive right?” He asked his longtime buddy. The tyrunt gave him a full teeth smile before grunting in agreement. “This whole region is impressive. Its architecture, its pokemon, and most importantly its people are amazing. I can’t believe we are actually living here now,” Anthony continued excitedly while scratching Jaws below the white spiny scales around its neck. The tyrunt brushed against him in agreement and appreciation for the gesture lucky for Anthony he got distracted by a man roller-skating by and stopped gobbling down all the food they had brought for the day. When Sandy returned the trio stopped at a cafe before continuing their trip. As he sat in the placid little place sipping on some ice tea he made eye contact with the cute waitress, offering her a smile when she looked back at him while Jaws was unfruitfully tryed to befriend Sandy. When the waitress was attending some older folks Anthony took out the list and crossed out walking the Furfrou from it before moving on to the next and final item. Leave Sandy at the Friseur Furfrou it said. He looked around to see if perhaps it was located in that plaza but couldn’t find it there. He reached for the map he printed earlier but suddenly realized he had left it on his bed. “Well this is inconvenient,” he muttered to himself puzzled on what to do next. Luckily fortune was smiling on him that day “Is there a problem sir?” the waitress asked as she approached him with the check. “You mean besides not meeting you sooner?” he instinctively responded as he quickly changed his worried expression and took the receipt. “Excuse me I’m not usually this forward but the women around here make me act strangely,” he joked while he read. The girl, seemingly his age blushed at his remark. “That’s cute, but are you sure you don’t want help?” she responded. “Well to be honest I’m kind of lost, I need to find this furfrou styling place and then go to the big pokemon giveaway on the lab but I have no idea where to find both places, but don’t worry I wouldn’t want to bother you while working,” he said as he paid. “Oh don’t worry, look its simple just exit the plaza by the left and then when you reach the avenue walk down,” she said while writing it down for him just in case. “That wasn’t necessary but thank you, really appreciate your help Ms. Waitress,” Anthony said while standing up. The waitress laughed “Please call me Julia, here have my number in case you get lost again,” she winked as she added it below the instructions and handed him the napkin she had used to write on. “Well Julia it was a pleasure to meet you, I hope to see you around now that I live here,” Anthony tipped his hat and went on his way. As he whistled happily Jaws shook his head disapprovingly. “What now?” Anthony asked his pal. The pokemon signaled back at the café with his massive head. “Is this about Julia? She helped us man, besides you can’t blame me I didn’t even ask for the number,” he defended but the Tyrunt was not having any of it and instead shook its head once more and turned his back towards his trainer. “Come on Jaws I know we had a deal but that was ages ago, besides I wasn’t even trying!” Anthony argued but Jaws simply ignored his pleas. They dropped off Sandy at the stylist and continued their argument outside. There, Jaws refused to move towards the event at the lab. Anthony pushed and pulled on his pal for almost an hour but the Tyrunt just sat down and refused to go anywhere. Anthony tried pushing him a last time but the pokemon was far stronger than him despite his size and as a group of girls passed giggling he was too embarrassed to continue trying to move him. This feud all dated back to the academy back in Rustboro where the two had agreed to focus on training and trying to avoid their most notable habits. For the Tyrunt it was the tendency to overeat as he always ate more than necessary which had started to make him slow and for Anthony it was texting girls as it consumed way too much of his time and energy besides making him distracted, what was expected from a hopeless romantic. The two had passed that moment a long time ago and usually forgot about it but if one wanted to gain something from the other he would bring it up. They were so connected Anthony knew what the dragon wanted and with no other choice left he conceded. “Fine you win. Sorry for accidentally getting her number I’ll give you double rations for a month, but please let’s get going we are already late,” Instantly Jaws dropped the act and smiled. He brushed against his trainer before cheerfully making his way towards the lab waving his little tail from side to side. Anthony stood there amazed at how easily his own pokemon could manipulate him. “Sometimes you’re unbelievable!” he exclaimed as he jogged to catch up as the pair made their way down Vernal Avenue and towards the pokemon lab. The pair arrived late at the event as a lot of people were already bonding with their new pokemon and heading for the exit. "See what you cause?" Anthony scolded Jaws as the Tyrunt simply shrugged as saying it wasn't his problem. "Well let's not waste any more time. You find our new partner while I go see if there are any Pokedexes or balls left," he sighed. He hated when Jaws got away with what he wanted and hoped his partner's rebellion hadn't spoiled their chances of finding a new friend.
