Another issue is to assume that a nation can only have one species or something which is unique to them. Quite the opposite IMO and the faction I chose will show that.
Actually I'll be using an extensively modified version of this sheet because otherwise my faction just cannot be described well enough. I think that format may be even preferable for other players but I let that be judged when I am done.

The Italics are just for the cool effect :P Not necessary for your sheet at all. So no worries on that. As for species, you can have about as much as possible, the first bit of the sheet can be repeated and such to add more species into your faction. 

Edit: Ok previously I said I can simplify the species portion of the sheet, but derp, it's about as simple as it can get :P I need to pay attention XP
