The strike he'd avoided? For some reason, it felt like he had been hit hard on his side, and upon some self-inspection, his chakra had weakened around the area. A solid strike probably would have ruptured his stomach. His naginata? He had expected the boy to dodge or deflect it. Instead if hearing the thunk of it hitting the ground either from a strike or from going past him, he heard nothing. The Hyuga bastard must have caught it. And he heard the oh-so-obnoxious sound of the boy shouting the worst syllable of all; “KAI!” Well, there had gone every single basic attempt. The ninjutsu was blocked properly, his weapon gone, and one of his special genjutsu failed. The Drowning Spear wasn't having a good time, especially with the growing pain in his side. It didn't help that he was becoming aware of a slim thinning of the mist...the silver-haired boy, with the liquid silver. He had launched it at him as balls before; could he have turned that silver into a means of pushing the mist away? So much for the mission going well. It's time for a tactical retreat. I need this wound inspected, to report this kekkei genkai to the Lady Commander, and to ensure the success of the actual mission, he told himself mentally. He prepared for another jutsu, before he heard the faint sound of ringing bells, steadily growing louder...and his enemy shouting the release command again. One of his favorite jutsu was an audio-based technique. He wasn't about to fall for this. "Kai!" He called out, before redoing his interrupted handsigns, and sprinting away from every single bad thing he could notice; the sounds of fighting, his disrupted mist, the genjutsu bells, the silver. He felt a little woozy as he began kneading his chakra. That blow to the gut had disrupted his flow somewhat, but it wasn't crippling. It just meant that he should expend it on his escape, and only leave the bare minimum to fend off a pursuit. "Water Release: Water Clone!" He made three, and they ran alongside him, a trio of guards should he be attacked. He made his way towards the edge of the mist, and made his way along there. Anyone on the outside shouldn't be able to see him, and he was far away from anyone on the inside, far enough away from detection by anyone but Higoho, and he had hopefully decided to go back to trying to kill off Mikoto. A shame, really. In retrospect, the idiot was pretty cute. It didn't matter now though; Red Sages had died on the battlefield today. He didn't intend to join them in recklessness, when there was a far safer alternative. And so Nori ran, towards the Red Sages' real objective, and the direction of Lady Commander Tametomo.
