Your puppet would be a weapon, so place it in your inventory. The puppet attacks would function off of strength. Most characters in the show are incapable or very bad at one of the three jutsu types, i.e Naruto and genjutsu. So yes you can put one or two B-ranks to your chosen specialty, but not much if anything to your non-specialty. Hope I helped cx
