[@HalfOfLancelot] My first thought was either A) home invasion occured at the same time and he threw her in there for safety. Or B) it was her biological father and she transferred over the memory to Reginald over the years because of the problems at home and wanting to remember her bio family in a perfect light.

Granted both ideas have their issues but that was just the first two, so I am sure there is a way to work it out.
