Niel rolled the die through his fingers admiring the colors, what a pretty toy. He'd gotten many things in his hat and forgotten even more, but he was confident he had never gotten something quite like this. He wondered who had given it to him, maybe a business man, or an owner of a pawn shop, even a teacher. Perhaps another person like him? Nah, probably some person with a trinket they figured they didn't need. It wouldn't have surprised if it wasn't so nice. Niel had just arrived in town and had finished his first performance, it'd gone reasonably well. Niel now had enough money to go on for a few weeks if he did nothing from his last few acts, he hadn't pocketed anything yet, he usually waited at least a day, sometimes more depending on how long he planned on staying. Sometimes it amazed him how charitable people were. Then there were the times he was running on less than a meal a day, but now he could easily afford that. Life was fickle like that. Perhaps whoever had given this to him wanted Niel to test his luck. Grinning broadly as he sat in the shade of an alleyway Niel flicked the die into the air and watched it come tumbling, tumbling down. 6's were good right? Or maybe it was 1's. Guess it all depended on the game you were playing.
