SuperIOR Incorporated was founded by George Cunningham in 1899. SuperIOR has always been dedicated to the creation and distribution of firearms, as well as to the advancement of military technology. George's son, Marcus, led the growing company during the Second World War. During this time SuperIOR made a number of breakthroughs in the weapons industry that brought them to their prominence that continues to this very day. The most important of these was Project HER0ES, which was one of a number of projects focusing on creating the perfect super soldier. HER0ES had been a total success (thanks in no small part to Cunningham's theft of critical information from rival corporations) and SuperIOR had been responsible for the formula that created some of America's greatest leaders and soldiers. Even after the war, SuperIOR continued to grow and prosper as it focused on research into the areas of robotics and genetics, both of which were brand new fields where new information was learned every single day. When the reins of the company were handed down to Edward, the young businessman chose to make the move to Lost Haven. SuperIOR is a well-known supporter of the U.S military and NATO. The governments of the free world are their top buyers, bar none. SuperIOR recently revealed their Super Soldier Project to the public during a Technology Expo held at their Headquarters in Lost Haven; analysts predict the technology could be implemented in some fashion within the next few months. Captain James Abrams, wearer of the Liberty Battlesuit, was outed as the patriotic superhero Captain Liberty at this event as well. Public perception of SuperIOR is at an all-time high. They are generally seen as a benevolent entity that has America's best interests at heart. However, in secret, Edward Cunningham is preparing to go to war with Lost Haven's criminal element. He has a deep-seated hatred for Metahumans that remains unexplained and the sooner he's dealt with, the better. The Magic Shop is on the first floor of a two story duplex that Hephaestus bought Ceri when she was still under the Olympian's influence. Since then, Ceri has converted the second story into a flat that she and Chike share. The original Ye Olde Magic Shoppe was located in Portland, Maine. The shop is known for its Medieval and New Age selection of spells, charms, hexes and artifacts, as well as numerous tomes and books on various Arcane subjects. Most of Ceri's customers are there for the parlor tricks and Wiccan portions of the store; however, there are a handful of big spenders who seem genuinely interested in the arts. The shop has been seeing a decrease in activity in the past ten months or so, ever since that other store opened up in Chinatown. Ceri sees them as a competitive rival moving in on her territory; however, she's begrudgingly purchased some items she could never find on her own.

The Daily Watchmen is a newspaper that was established roughly a hundred years ago, under the name "The Lost Haven Star." Gary Gold, current Editor-in-Chief of the Watchmen took the position twenty or so years ago, after fifteen years working as a reporter on the Star. Gold renamed the paper the Watchmen after a scandal involving the last chief nearly destroyed the Star's reputation. Gary Gold dedicated the Watchmen to seeking out the truth; he's never accepted a bribe in his life and has never backed down from threats. The Daily Watchmen has taken on organized crime, corrupt politicians and regularly goes twelve rounds with the biased media. The Watchmen is seen as one of the most neutral (politically speaking) papers in the state; even when discussing the primaries, Gary makes sure to adequately and fairly represent both parties and all candidates. Terry Gibbs and Laura Smith (AKA the super-speed heroine, Boom) are one of the Watchmen's go-to reporter teams.

The Lost Haven Police Department has been led by Commissioner Jessica Valdez for the last twelve years. The LHPD is one of the most corrupt police forces in the nation. Its been estimated that around 80% of officers are bought out; however, Internal Affairs and the FBI have been unable to prove these allegations and most cases of corruption are either dissolved entirely or stuck in red tape for years. The department's ongoing 'war' against organized crime is one of the least effective, most wasteful campaigns ever launched in the history of the United States. The only thing the LHPD seems to be able to handful are petty crimes and Metahumans. Their Methuman Prevention Task Force, better known as the Cape Killers on the streets, is very well funded and highly trained. The Cape Killers are a brutally effective fighting force, only ever called upon when the regular SWAT can't handle a situation and no heroes are on the scene; the MPTF is also responsible for the transporting of Metahuman criminals into STRIKE custody.
