I want to know if anyone on Role Players Guild enjoys to do any of the massively different, but vaguely connected hobbies listed in the title.

I am a LARP fan! I've played quite a few different ones, all live-combat style games. From the traditional fantasy genre with foam weapons, to a Wild West game with rubber band guns, and some post-apocalyptic games with airsoft. All great fun! How about you, @ManiacMaestro?

I personally want to create a LARP group in the future. I also have been interested in HEMA since I heard of it from the famous Hema/history channels on youtube (Skallagrim,ScholaGladiatoria,Lindybeige,Mettatron,to name a Few.)

Well when you only have ever heard of one thing on that list, its always a humble reminder there is always a bigger nerd than you. :P (I've always wanted to try LARPing honestly, I'm sure it's quite fun.)

Yeah, I do SCA heavy combat a solid three or so times a week. HEMA I am interested in, but participation in my area is pretty slim. ACL I'm also somewhat interested in, but the potential for injury kinda makes me think twice about risking my job over a hobby. Never LARPEd, but being in the SCA means I hang around plenty of people who do/have.

I used to play in the SCA. Loved it in college. I did heavy fighting.

I've been LARPing since age 16. (28 now) I have one regular organization I go to which holds 3 events a year, and have tried a few other LARPs as well. For gear we use realistic looking foam weapons rather than the PVC/Wood core with round foam around it you often see. I have 2 swords, 1 mace, 1 2h axe, 1 2h sword, 2 daggers, 2 bows + 6 arrows, 3 throwing daggers, 2 shields (1 made myself), a leather armour set, a chain shirt, like 8 different costumes I can mix and match (mostly home-made.), and a tent that I can use ingame. So you could say it's a pretty big hobby of mine. :P

I had a girlfriend who once said the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism) is less of a hobby and more of a religion. It takes over people's entire lives sometimes. haha

Do you live near a college or community college? They might have a group or at least a small group. Check their list of on campus clubs.
