(See full sized) Name: Minerva Meyer, or "Minnie" to friends. Age: 12 Appearance: Minerva's Soul Gem is located on her chest when transformed, and takes the form of a distinctively square, pink jewel. Nationality: Swiss Personality: Minerva is typically a level-headed and competent girl, with some minor kinks in her psyche that end up making her just a little less balanced than your average girl. She is considerate, she appreciates hard work and believes that diligence and loyalty are both traits that ought to be rewarded. She hates being looked down on, even if she doesn't show it plainly. Her admiration for the field of Medicine comes largely from her appreciation for their extensive technical knowledge, which is beyond the scope of ordinary people. She strives to be like them, and her mental image of her mother hard at work is the driving force behind her academic achievements. She loves, and respects her mother in her work, and wants to be like her. She has a slightly teasing streak, and can internally be a bit of a know-it-all. She likes to know more than the people around her, and to show off that knowledge when she can. Her views on Magical Girls and the magic world in general are largely immature at this stage. In her mind and from what she knows, she sees Magical Girl work as very much an enjoyable experience. It's like volunteer work that's fun, one feels compelled to participate and help out, but it is more of a pastime than an actual job. She has some reservations towards the other, more experienced Magical Girls, as she feels that they might look down on her because of her lack of experience. Witches, to her, are more interesting than they are horrifying. She has yet to develop doubts of any sort about the nature of her wishes, or of the motives of her allies(?). Afflictions: N/A Wish: "I wish I was a super genius doctor, even better than my mother!" The result of Minnie's selfish wish was that she gained an unique magical trait. It is a super-genius trait that gives her unparalleled talent in a single field, in this case, Medicine. She is able to instantly comprehend, retain and master anything she attempts within her given subject. While she has been granted overwhelming talent, she still does have to study and train in order to progress. The process is just massively expedited, and the chance of failure has been reduced into obscurity. Biography: Minerva owes her origins to a certain Athena Meyer, world-renowned neurological specialist and celebrated genius in her field. She stands at the forefront of her study despite her relatively young age, and has managed to acquire a reasonable wealth by seeing to several high-profile clients over the course of her career. She began to take it easy a little after the birth of her daughter, but she is still very active in the medical community, and retains correspondence with many of her colleagues around the world. Minerva's father was something of a lowlife, an up-and-coming actor who was actually quite down on his luck when he first began seeing Minerva's mother. Because of this, there were a lot of nasty rumours going around that he was just after her money, and it is thought that this was one of the reasons behind their eventual separation. In Minerva's memories, he was mostly an alright papa, but she found some intangible aspect of him... lacking. For this reason, they were not incredibly close, and his eventual departure left her feeling more annoyed than sad. He still writes to her from time to time, asking how she is and if everything is fine with her mom. She responds mechanically, and without much emotion towards the matter. She's gotten used to his absence. It's not good, or bad: it just is. During her childhood, Minerva was a well taken care of girl with a healthy body, mind and social life. She played with the other children in the city of her birth, those she knew from class when she got into school, or those who lived close-by before then. In school, she was always ahead of the curve when it came to her studies. Enough for her mother to be proud of her, and for her to be able to look down on the other students somewhat. However, there was always somebody above her, and this became both a source of annoyance and motivation for her moving forward. Moving on to her recent activities, she has lately begun to show an interest in her mother's field of research. Because of this, while she had started to put more focus on her work during the period of her daughter's early education, she entered back into her daughter's life with renewed interest and the two of them grew very close over the span of several months. Now, her mother has been called away to Poland in order to examine an unusual case in her sphere of expertise. Instead of leaving her daughter behind, Athena arranged for her to come with her, and the two of them are now living together temporarily in an apartment close to the Hospital. Since arriving in Poland, Minerva has spent an abnormally large amount of time alone, and rather than bothering her, she has grown to enjoy these moments of introspection. After being introduced to some of the hospital staff, she has grown into the habit of hanging around the hospital while her mother is working, waiting for her to finish after which the two of them would go out to eat and talk about their days. One day, when her mother was being kept busy late into the evening, Minerva made the discovery that shaped her life from then on. A small, furry creature approached her while she hung out in the small park outside of the hospital, calling itself "Kyubey". It possessed the strange power to talk to her in her head, and while she was skeptical at first, she soon grew to enjoy his company. When her mother got off for the night, the two of them agreed to meet again the next day. It was then that Kyubey began to talk to her about Magical Girls and, before she knew it, she was offered something that she had never considered. A shortcut. So, without much hesitation, she made the decision that very same night. She formed a contract with him, and became a magical girl. Skills: Academics: Minerva has always been a smart child, putting her academic abilities a slight step beyond those of other girls her age. She isn't a genius by any standards, but she is certainly gifted, and in particular she possesses excellent reading comprehension. She's skilled with internet browsing and computer use, as a natural result of spending a lot of time alone and at home. Physicality: Surprisingly in contrast with her bookish nature, Minnie is quite healthy, physically. She has reasonable grades in gym class, and because of her mother's lectures, knows perfectly well the value of physical health alongside smarts. Of course, as a Magical Girl a lot of these things aren't incredibly relevant, but she can swim, climb ropes and run with reasonable skill. She has some very minor gymnastic experience, enough to give her a slightly agile impression when she moves. Home: She understands the basics of the kitchen, and could probably prepare a meal or two in a pinch. Because of her all-around competence, cleaning chores and other day-to-day tasks are all things she could do, even if she probably wouldn't like it. Specialty: Minnie has some basic medical knowledge through her mom, which she has since gained a new understanding of due to her Wish. Threads of Fate: 9 - I am Power, incarnate! Magical Weapon: Minnie's weapons of choice are Syringes, which while lacking in range and flexibility, have no lack of lethality when combined with Minnie's signature Magic. They are a decidedly ineffective weapon against dangerous Witches, and will take some serious training to be useful in combat. Even though they're pretty small, they can still easily block attacks from opponents of similar strength. They're also kind of sharp, so they can be dangerous in the same manner as any other sharp, pointy object out there. Experience: 1 - Inexperienced. She's a definite newbie to the magical world, and has little to no experience using her powers, let alone utilizing them in battle. Magical Ability: (Core) Magic Drug / Super Shot: A versatile ability that is a little difficult to employ in combat, and sentences Minnie to the wretched fate of a back-row fighter. Using her magic, she is able to produce "Magic Potions" capable of a vast variety of combine-able and interchangeable effects. This ability can be applied either by directly conjuring the substances in her proximity, or by actually physically composing the drugs out of various materials. The former is less potent and more costly, but can be used on the fly making it more applicable in the heat of battle. The latter produces stronger effects, but because it's time consuming, it's more of an out-of combat skill, used for preparing for difficult battles or tending to the needs of daily life. Can be used simultaneously with summoning her Syringes, allowing her to produce ready injections at a moment's notice. She does have to physically push the plungers of her syringes to preform a successful shot, however, so just throwing the needles at her enemies will not be enough to magically affect them. She can even inject enemies with deadly poison! Or magical love potions! Only, the required dosage does rise drastically when dealing with massive or highly powerful beings, such as Witches.
