It hadn't been that good of a move to move where Ryouko's center of balance was located. As he moved closer by sliding his feet forwards, the end of the spear was clearly shown.

It was in fact, a series of sharp Razor blades, pressed so thinly together that they would cut more skin than would be thought at the end and sides of the 'spear'. The only place without this...was the handholds he had. As he leaned to the left to avoid the arc of electricity that raced past his head, brushing his hair and nearly singing him, Ryouko took the chance of leaping forwards, into Damien's unprotected left side. He sliced through the air with the blood spear, intending to cut across Damien's heart with the jagged sides while knocking him off balance. 

He couldn't wait to use an actual sword against Damien.
