Con season is coming and I was wondering if there were any other Comic con enthusiasts on the Guild. (I mean, I'm sure there are, so here's a thread for you).

I'm curious about what conventions you're planning on attending but I'm more interested in what kinda costume you'll be wearing.

I only started going to cons last year but I have cosplayed every time and it's honestly the best part for me. I mean, I wouldn't go if I wasn't in costume.

This year I'm planning on going to Wizard Con in Minneapolis with my sister, and we're going to cosplay Cecil and Carlos from Welcome to Night Vale. And in June we're driving all the way out to Ohio for Colossal Con to meet some Tumblr friends and I'll probably end up getting drafted into their Homestuck cosplaying (she says I should be Gamzee?). Hopefully I'll catch a few more cons over the summer but we'll see, those are the two I'm for sure attending.

Some cosplays I've done in the past are Spider-Man (that one was really bad), Jeff the Killer (fun but I did accidentally make one little kid cry), but my favorite so far was Nana Osaki from the anime "Nana". I was Nana for Meta Con and Anime Fusion. At Meta Con I made some friends who offered to help me pull together the entire cast of Nana, and we all went to Fusion together. It was really awesome. Here's some pics:

But enough about me, I'd love to hear about your cosplays/cosplay wishlist and your past con experiences, and if you haven't been to a con and this is all new to you feel free to talk about what you'd like to do if you did go.

I have never Cosplayed, but I would like to Cosplay as Kirito from Sword Art Online or Cloud (or Sephiroth) from FFVII. It would be fun to Cosplay as Auron as well, or Mal Reynalds from Firefly.

I'm a rookie cosplayer, but I have a (super shitty) Maya from Borderlands 2 cosplay and a decent Black Widow, circa Avengers cosplay.

I'm currently working on a qunari Inquisitor cosplay for a Dragon Age group; my bestie is going as Blackwall and husbanditos bestie is our Sera. Next year my hubs will be Dorian, as he's on deployment right meow.

Have some shitty photos;

I'm a huge proponent of cosplay positivity, it's for everyone, and RayDay of Rayday Plays is my ultimate cosplay idol, go check her out. She's always inspiring me to push myself and feel more comfortable in my skin.

Those are awesome! Yeah totally, anyone should be able to cosplay whoever they want, regardless of their skin color, body type, gender, etc. Most of the cosplays I want to do are crossplays (e.g. Cecil Palmer, Deadpool, Hiccup, etc.). Regardless of how "bad" someone's cosplay might be, they put effort into it and they deserve to be recognized for it, and we all start somewhere. We're all just trying to have a good time and at the end of the day we're all just a bunch of nerds in costumes lol, no one is any better or worse than anyone else.

Ahhh, I saw some super cute Cecil's at Geek Girl Con last October! They were wonderful, and there was an AMAZING Astrid with the most wonderfully detailed everything. Those sound like so much fun. And Deadpool cosplayers are the best, they're so nice! I'm really looking forward to seeing all the new cosplay that'll come out after the movie. Their costuming department is on their fuckin game, it looks so rad.

I can basically gush forever about cosplay I love. I really want to cosplay Fiona from Tales From the Borderlands and make a little Gortys. And bully husbandito into cosplaying Rhys for the ensuing snark off *A* Our amazing friend is forging him an Iron Man arm while husbandito is out to sea, I'm super stoked to see it. Making props is the fuckin best.

I haven't really done any closplaying (outside of my shitty post apoc holloween costumes that turned out okay actually), but I'm a tall, black haired Asian, should be a lot of opprotunities. I know for a fact that Sebastian from Black Butler and Lelouch from Code Geass are on my list but cosplaying is so expensive and I can't sew ;-;

@El Taco Taco There were Cecil and Khoshekh cosplayers at Wizard Con last year! And I ran into a TON of Hetalia cosplayers at Fusion, they were so cute and they ran a World Conference panel, and one of the Italy cosplayers gave me a flower and I almost cried because it was so freaking adorable.

@ClocktowerEchos I can't sew either, but I'm thinking of taking a class because I'd like to be able to down the line. My sister and I want to do a Sebastian and Ciel cosplay (I'd be Sebastian cuz I'm taller) but costumes are either expensive or difficult to make D:

Most of everything I've used so far has either come from a thrift store or Amazon. I've been (sorta) working on an Assassin's Creed costume (Ezio from AC2) and I have all the material but I haven't actually started sewing because I'm afraid I'll mess up.

There's a huge push in libraries to incorporate Maker Spaces, and I know the ones local to me offer free sewing lessons and help! You should see if there's a Maker Space near you. They usually have 3-D printing and other cool resources, they're super great!

@Raxacoricofallapatorius I've heard mixed things about Wizard Con! How's the atmosphere???
Also, that is hella adorable!

My favorite is little kid Avengers ;A; Hearing that little excited gasp of "mom it's Black Widow!" and that super shy 'canigetaphotowithu' is so magical. Emerald City and Geek Girl Con are so family friendly, and I adore it. I do PAX Prime--I'm a cookie brigadier actually-- but the atmosphere is really different and I don't like it nearly as much.

@Raxacoricofallapatorius That's why I did post apoc stuff, no matter how badly you fuck up, you can always say it was the look you're going for :D

Of course, I really wish I could do more complex things with metal but I don't know where exactly to find suitable scrap metal/sheet metal and nor can I spray paint or really work metal xD

Only time I've ever "cosplayed". I'm not sure I'd call it cosplaying, since all I was really doing was wearing something for a Halloween party.

But yes, this is me as a rebel from Half Life 2.

Forget the stupid mess that is my room, this was taken over two years ago.

Here are some previous cosplays :)

And lastly - here is my Jedi attire :D

Even making your costumes is pricey and time consuming. I order my costumes online, usually tailor fitted. That's pretty much where the dedication comes in. I used to think the same, money and all. JUST DO IT. Don't let your dream cosplay be a dream cosplay. Just save the money, look it up online, and JUST DO IT. Make your cosplay come true!

I can't enjoy a con without a cosplay! Started back in 2011 as Kadaj (Advent Children), but back then I didn't care so much for detail. I lacked a weapon prop, and I didn't even bother to cut the wig a bit shorter so I didn't end up confusing people into thinking I was Yazoo. Then I did Yukio (Blue Exorcist), probably the easiest one since my hair is naturally black and I also wear glasses. After that, I went on to cosplay Ballgown Ciel Phantomhive, which at the time felt like a hitting a milestone. I did my own makeup, which wasn't that great, but pulled it off quite nicely. Being an SAO fan, I immediately went on to cosplay Kirito, and soon after his GGO version. It was at this time that I tried to "level up" a bit on this hobby. I started getting comfortable with cosplaying without glasses, bought props online, and styled my wigs to match the anime source look. My makeup work slighty improved as well. Confident enough I could try something different, I did my first crossplay and chose Ruby Rose (RWBY). My friend gave me the costume, wig, and scythe prop as a Christmas gift, and I LOVED IT. Since I enjoyed crossplaying so much, I decided to do Chiaki Nanami (Dangan Ronpa 2), which I found to be my best in terms of makeup and overall look. Right now I've got Neo (RWBY) to work on.

And since I can't seem to find a "Post your Pic" thread around here, I'll just explain my theory on how Neo may have survived.

WARNING: Slightly lewd. Trap detection.

So as we know, Neo has an ability that allows her to alter her appearance. Now, last time we saw her, she was going Merry Poppins over the skies of Vale, and likely might have been picked on by a few avian-type Grimm. Notice the blood, first sign that Aura has been depleted. To avoid any further confrontations with enemies, she would have looked like any ordinary civilian. Except, this is not a Dangan Ronpa crossover, so let's change this a bit.

That's more like it! A Haven Academy uniform, so this way she can fit in with the other students while keeping a good distance away from others like Team RWBY. A little later on, Neo can assume her natural hair color, but this time it's tied back, just to make it easier. Geez, finally you can see that pink eye. Obvious concern for Roman, but hey, Neo survives.
