C) I'm cool with the markings being protective symbols. Harry will recognize them immediately.

B) If Peyton's mother is a sorceress then chances are Peyton's not a pure mortal. 

A) I like it. If you could add in the fact that the father was a park ranger into your history, that'd be great.
