Operation: Shadow Sabre

Compared to the history of humanity before it, the 20th and 21st centuries were easily the turning point of advancements in technology. Launching like a rocket into space, the world as we knew it was revolutionized by new discoveries and inventions in every field of study. To date, the most significant breakthrough was the technology needed to inhabit worlds other than Earth. In only a few short centuries after the turn of the 21st, Earth's population grew from 6.102 billion to a staggering 10.511 billion. 99.9% of the entire planet was inhabited both on the ground level: and in the upper troposphere: With Earth's small stature and diminishing resources, humanity looked to the heavens for answers. To their delight, their pleas were answered in the form of breakthroughs in space travel: entire settlements of humans were able to move to and live in colonies that orbited Earth and her Moon. By the 31st century, man kind had set foot on and fully colonized Mars, establishing the first truly extraterrestrial human settlement: But in time, they would again run out of room and resources, the Earthling and Martian colonies had in combination broke the 50 billion mark in universal population. The second "great leap" would occur in the 39th century, reaching out again to the stars, the Earth-run government of the now-unified humanity authorized the colonization of the entire Asteroid belt. The Asteroid Belt colony reached around the entire belt, and allowed the universal population to comfortably grow to over 200 billion. Since the early 4000's, about 2.5% of all of humanity still inhabits Earth. The 5 billion or so nobility, politicians aristocrats that live in wealth have maintained their standing as the governing force over the entirety of the Earth-Martian-Asteroid conglomerate, now known as the EMA, the unified federation of all of humanity. The middle-class colony of Mars now consists of about 15 billion, including the lunar branches and other orbitals. This left roughly 180 billion to the slums of the Asteroid Belt, where the standard of living was comparable to that of the Great Depression of 20th century USA. For the most part, everything was otherwise tranquil. Then in the mid 4500's war broke out. The mass of the Asteroid settlements rose in revolt against Earth's hold over humanity. In a wave of rebellion, over 100 billion people broke away from the EMA Conglomerate, forming the Jupiter Freedom Alliance and declaring war against Earth's oppression. They settled on Jupiter's many moons, the first and most prominent colony being the water-rich moon Europa: In only 12 years, the rebel army became a massive threat to the EMA, attacking critical trade and travel points with surgical precision: With the EMA Inter-Planetary Naval Force not strong enough to fend off the attacks, Earth is losing the war. The current year is 4598, and we're on the brink of defeat. There is only one option left to save us... Good bye.

Operation Shadow-Sabre is a high-casual, high sci-fi roleplay set in a far future where humanity has colonized the middile of our Solar System, and is now in a civil war. In an effort to quell the rebellion, the central government has issued a top-secret program to turn humans (you, the players) into super-humanoids, fit for combat, research, reconnaissance, anything and everything. As a player, your character will be a Sabre, and you'll have the chance to personalize their dossier and even create the augmentations that he or she possesses. They can be just about any reasonable "super-human power" that would fit in a sci-fi setting, but that doesn't mean you have to be the next Master Chief or Adam Jensen. Expect lots of open-ended exploration, complex and malleable story lines, and lots of action!
Character Creation
Since this roleplay is High-Casual, anyone who applies will be expected to have read everything in this OP, as well as present a well written dossier in both quality and quantity. I will be accepting only a small but unknown (to you) number of applicants, so here's some tips if you want to give your chances that extra kick:

Post your application in the OOC. CS's posted in the Character tab will be automatically denied. If it's accepted, I'll give you a S## and you can put that in your CS and your CS in the Characters tab.
Don't reserve spots on the team or the Characters tab.
Don't give yourself a Sabre##. See point 1.
More content doesn't mean better content. I'm looking for unique characters that have plenty to read AND are very well written. Proper English grammar is mandatory.
Do not make your character a jack of all trades, or a John/Jane Doe. My co-gm [@MercuryHg34] will be playing S02, which will be the team leader and well-rounded character.
For specializations, think of things that are common in military squads, as well as traditional rpg roles. Things like "tank" or "medic" are fine, but things like "information technology" or "stealth reconnaissance" or "fire-arms expert" among other things will also be encouraged. You can have a small pool of specializations that go well together, you don't have to only write one thing.
If two or more characters are too similar in specializations, I won't be taking all of them. So either try to write something unique, or write a better CS than the other "explosives" guy.
Lastly, the most grammatically correct, unique, and longest CS in the world will be denied if it does not adhere to the lore and conditions set by the rp. Carefully read everything (both what I've written and your own writing) to make sure your character and their backstory make sense in this specific story.

Sabre##
Replace with Sabre number. You will be given your number after your character is accepted, so leave blank for now. Rank Military rank before joining the Sabre project, or if your character was a non-military personnel (such as a doctor). Name Appearance Include both character and specialized Sabre deployment suit. A paragraph detailing features not present in imagery is encouraged. Imagery itself is not required. Age Sex If gender identity differs from biological sex, notate both here. Also sexuality if you so desire. Specializations Standard skills and roles that you bring to the team. Character applications with similar Specializations might be in contention to be accepted. DO NOT MAKE YOUR CHARACTER A JACK OF ALL TRADES. Augmentations Physical and biological enhancements to the character. Primarily to improve their ability to perform their Specializations, but can be for anything. Include any "super-human" qualities, mechanical implants, genetic upgrades, etc. Sabre Deployment Suit Specifics on your specialized deployment suit. What can it do, and how does it help you do what you do? Include on-board computer systems, weapons, defenses, anything extraordinary, if any. Personality Personality types and/or alignments are fine, but a paragraph detailing their personality is still required. History Backstory. Your character was chosen for the Sabre project. They did not know about it ahead of time, was not allowed to deny joining, and is not allowed to tell anyone about it. Additionally, you have had no prior history or knowledge with the Sabre project or its personnel.

Rules

[@Light] is the be-all, end-all for all rulings. What I say after this OP trumps this rules list, but adhere to it anyway, as I will be enforcing it and adding to it unless something extraordinary pops up.
[@MercuryHg34] is a co-gm, and should be respected as well.
No god-modding, metagaming, controlling other characters, posting conflicting events, etc. You will be asked and expected to go back and edit your posts to adhere to this rule if you break it.
Character interaction is expected. Do not just be another gun that follows the party around, even character conflict is character development.
Post regularly. Once a week is the bare minimum, but if you apply to this rp, I'll expect that you at least WANT to post more often than that. Let me know ahead of time if you can't post for a while, we all have lives and things that happen so I'll probably be ok if you let me know first.
The OOC can be used for off-topic discussion, but keep it short and sweet.
Disagreements between characters shouldn't mean disagreements between players. If a real argument starts to develop between players, take it to PM's and include me in that PM.
Cursing, violence, and other mature-like content is fine, as is character relations. Anything sexual should be played 1x1 in PM's. Leave me out of those PM's.
Breaking these rules frequently will of course result in being kicked out of the rp. Some rules may be more severe than others, at my discretion.
Lastly, have fun!
