Kaira was always a person who kept everything inward. She had grown up with an abusive father and chainsmoker mother, who was too interested in television and keeping her stock of cigarettes full to care that Kaira was getting smacked around. One night, she had snuck out of the house to get away for a while. She was sitting under a tree when she was attacked by a vampire. Kaira was beyond mortified and distraught when she was first turned, but she came to realize that there was no reason to go back home, and that really she couldn't anyway since her parents couldn't find out what she was. Kaira was relieved that she couldn't live at home anymore and saw this as an opportunity to start her life over.

Kaira is a sweet and gentle person, but isn't one to share feelings. She isn't completely untrusting of others, but it takes her a while to warm up to a new person.
