The youngest of three children by 10 years, Alec was taken custody of by his mother Ava whilst his sisters moved in with their father, Peter. Despite this, his sisters remained a large part of his life, and- combined with his mother's presence- this overtly maternal upbringing molded him into a respectful and kind young man. These traits carried on with Alec well into high school, where he was known to be a patient, quiet student, attempting to fit in and stand out at the same time. However, he was an underachiever in almost all things. His grades were average, he had no outstanding athletic ability, no natural talent for the arts. While he was willing to learn new things and expand his skills, he never really outshined anyone. People including his guidance counsellor and own mother attributed this to his lack of ambition, but Alec knew what it was, deep down inside: he was just average, and there was nothing he could do about it. His few friends joked that he was "Aleksander Orlov: The Uninteresting Man With The Very Interesting Name." What he lacked in genius, however, Alec made up for in quiet courage and compassion. He acted as friend and confidant to anyone who was willing to talk; he refused to conform to the idea of the restricting "roles" or "cliques", and made people believe that they were capable of more than they were told to be. Without realising, Alec earned a reputation concerning his gentle demeanour, marred only by his frustration towards authority. Despite this, Alec, again, faded from memory, as if the universe itself refused to give him a moment in the spotlight. None of this ever bothered him, though: Alec never felt a burning ambition to get anywhere like other people did, remaining patient and calm throughout his schooling, if only slightly disheartened. After high school, Alec decided to take a gap year from studies in order to better find himself, and to experience life and the meaning of responsibility. What ended up happening was a job at the local supermarket and babysitting his nephew every other weekend, still living at home with his mother and her partner. On "Dark Day", Alec was free from work and obligation, and decided to visit his father, something he did every so often in order to build a better relationship with the man he considered almost like a stranger. It was during this time that he'd ventured out for a walk to clear his head, to think on his future and what he could make of himself. He never came back. Several hours later, Peter finally found his son, sat atop a low hill overlooking the suburb. He was resting on his palms, leaned back and seemingly without a care in the world, watching out across the horizon as the sun ended its set.
