While waiting on interest for another one of my roleplays, I felt a distinct need for a more laid-back, adventure-like roleplay. Perhaps even so, something a little more on the light-hearted side, and may become darker as the roleplay continues. One where plays can make choices and explore the world through such. I also wanted to see something a little more about the day-by-day lives of characters. Something that wasn't too focused on plot, though as it turns out, this would be a roleplay that I would like to see plot exploration in. In summary, I was thinking about a traditional far-eastern roleplay (primarily with Japanese themes, but can contain other far-east themes) about a city and four villages living in a supernatural world. Humans and yokai co-existing (more or less) living in a world that has become surrounded with a sense of uncertainty and mystery. Throw in a bit of fear, possible romance, and typical drama... The recipe for what I wanted to make. I have a generalized plot with bad names within the hider below. There are no pictures yet until I have finalized the roleplay and gathered some interest.

Story

Long ago, there was a lonesome village behind the large Daiyama mountain range. This peculiar village was difficult to reach due to the mountain terrain and travel, but was said to offer many treasures... And from fertile soil to material goods, this was true. At the cost of beloved items and riches came infestation of yokai and other spirits, but this did not scare off all travelers. In fact, some stayed, whether it may be a friendship they managed to form with the yokai or to fight them off the land. Humans who were not swayed by treasures and goods were tempted to come by for religious reasons and more. Whatever those reasons may be, those who traveled to this village either stayed, died, or ran away. Those who stayed lived in the village known as Amazaki. Over the years Amazaki grew, thriving with life despite the constant battle of human and yokai survival. Those who once sought solitude far from city life would discover that the village would eventually become a city, and would move away as far as possible. Scouts sent beyond [name name name] would never return, so many of them would begin new villages outside of the city, but never far enough to escape it. These new villages, from north, east, south, and west of Amazaki, would become known as Kitashimo, Inahashi, Nagoya, and Ryouke respectively. Civilian life would continue to thrive across the land, all coexisting in a balanced cycle of life and death between humans and yokai. As the founding generation died, the new generation would become lost in time, and the two dominant species of the world would begin marking a new track of time. Year 0 would mark the discovery of the village Amazaki. Year 580 would mark the change of Amazaki from village to city. Year 1000 would mark a significant increase in humans as Year 1250 would mark an increase between yokai to human slaughter. The following years would introduce a constant bouncing back and forth between these numbers, and introduce some new number changes like the human to yokai slaughter increase during Year 1800. It was then during Year 2500 a frightening prophecy was shared across the land: a dominant species will rule with a dominant hand; the opposing species will fall extinct before it... in given time. Dramatic changes in population for both species would occur until Year 3250. It was then that the majority of both species came to agreeable terms with each-other, though not all would be at rest. For the sake of Amazaki though, it was made so, and peace would be kept for a long period afterwards. Year 4000 would introduce a new rumor that would shake up the thoughts and beliefs of Amazaki. Those who traveled beyond Daiyama would never return, and would thought to be dead. Many civilians proposed the idea that they have been spirited away, an old belief that has remained for years, but others may suggest that they have been the ones spirited away. Once a bizarre concept, many old scriptures have been used to argue this point, though not everyone believes. Would it be so that there is more beyond Daiyama? While the concept boomed during Year 4060, it would subside during 4200; an notable increase of deaths would be present during these years due to the amount of adventurers who would try to solve this themselves. And so years passed... Throughout the years, life turned and turned... It would be 2500 years since the prophecy, and 1000 years since the myth was born...
It's the blossoming new year of 5000. Humans and spirits alike bustle with excitement and fear of what the year will bring them. Opening fortunes promising love or despair, conspiracies and rumors being rekindled again, who knows what will happen this year? For humans, yokai, and more, the possibilities are infinite. Will this be the year to chase your desires or wait for them to visit you? There is only one way to find out! [s][doot doot anime opening song][/s]
There are two ideals for this roleplay: Various roles joining together to seek out the myth and mysteries of the world, or various roles interacting and forming their own history for the world (or both if that is somehow managed). At the moment, I am seeking interest from any possible players. If anyone has questions, comments, and / or concerns about the roleplay, feel free to ask via posting or PM! I'm also willing to modify the roleplay slightly depending on what players would like to encounter or have -- whether it be a little more about the slice-of-life or going on a full adventure. Romance would be nice to see and is highly encouraged, but I do not wish to force it upon players. I hope for this roleplay to give a Touhou Project and Spirited Away vibe (they were primary inspirations for this roleplay). So, anyone interested?
