[@6slyboy6] ...Tobias... The rushing of the wind against his helmet was a fantastic feel. Tobias took a deep breath, and looked at the mirror to see the road behind him. The glass reflected with blue and red lights as one more cop car joined the chase. "One more. Great." Tobias laughed to himself, which was more like a muffled shake that ran through his helmet. He took a turn leading to the docks, and turned the handle to accelerate with the motorbike. The roaring sound eliminated all other noises for a second and then a sudden rush sped him up and left the cops with only dust. At least for a few seconds. His motorbike was fast, but not fast enough to hold the police interceptors at bay for long. Instead of taking a direct route he decided to take as many turns as possible to avoid the authority. After all, he spent his entire life running away. After taking the twenty or so turn, the sound of the sirens started to fade away, and it seemed as if they lost his trail. Tobias pulled down into a narrow alley and stopped the bike's engine. He removed his helmet and sighed heavily, catching air after the chase. For a second he just blankly stared into the darkness and listened to the repeating sound of the cops trying to find someone who wasn't even near them. "Alrighty, let's see what we got." The duffle bag on his back made a loud sound as it hit the ground, alerting a few birds that sat on nearby poles. Not like anyone would notice now. Tobias crossed one of his fingers inside the gloves and opened the zipper. And there was it. 10 kilos of pure Black Dust, enough to spend a lifetime in prison. And no one wants to go to prison on Mars. Especially not someone who is rich. "Yes, yes, yes!" Tobias stood up and started to dance around the bag for a few seconds. The he removed the number plate from his bike, and threw it into the bag, closing it once again. Tobias chained the motor to a nearby grate, and looked up at the night sky, before vanishing from sight, and leaving only a small pile of black dust behind. ...Evie... The alarm clock went off at 5am, same as it did everyday. Evie could hear her mother moving around in the other room. She could tell the light from the hallway had been turned on, as the glowing yellow light crept under the bottom of her bedroom door. She silenced the alarm with the flick of a switch and quickly jumped out of bed. She threw on her running clothes before her body had a chance to react to the cold. She pulled on her tatty running shoes and opened the door, trying to stop it creaking. She walked down the hallway, past her mother's door, which was slightly ajar. Evie could see her mother sitting on the edge of her bed, picture of her late husband, Evie's father in her hand. Evie didn't want her mother to see her, so she slipped past and out the door. The air outside was crisp, cool. There was a light wind that blew in her face and she made her way down the street. She had a set route, that only varied depending on the distance she wanted to cover. Today would be a long run, 10km at least. She slowly worked her way into a steady jog, not wanting to overdo it before she hit the middle kms, the hardest part. She liked being out in New London when it was early, when most other people were still asleep. There was a quietness to the city that didn't happen at any other time of the day. There was a stillness that she never seemed to get used to. Evie's route took her past the factory she worked at, black smoke pouring out the top at all hours of the day. She had never worked the night shift, but she assumed it was just as boring as the day time. As she got to the factory, she wondered if there would ever be anything else for her to do in life. Evie took a short break outside, regaining her breath. It seemed that like her parents, she was destined to work there forever, or at least until another tragedy struck. But maybe things were changing now. Since the shake, the management of the factory had been giving lots of overtime to staff. Her mother had been working double shifts some day. It was like they were desperate to get clothes made in case they needed to shut down. And of course, there were trying to replace members of staff that had disappeared since the shake. Evie had heard whispers, rumours about what happened, but nothing confirmed. Evie could theorise all she liked, but she never got any answers. It did give her something to think about on her runs though. ...Tobias... Tobias was pretty happy to have evaded the cops and scored such a stash all in one night. It was very productive and had put him in a very good mood. He was walking slowly, trying not to draw attention to himself, but let's face it, there was no one else around at 5am. He was regretting hiding his bike just a little bit because it meant he had to walk. But he knew it was the only option to avoid detection. He looked around himself, trying to get his bearings. He didn't spend that much time in this part of town, the poorer part, and when he did, it was to complete deals, cause problems and do some questionable things. He knew he had to get out of here before the sun came up though, because the poor people form the area would certainly be asking questions about why a rich kid was traipsing around in their neighbourhood. Tobias turned the corner and spotted a large factory that he sort of recognised from driving past. He thought if he could get to that, he might have a clearer view of where he was, thanks to the large floodlights from the building. As he got closer to the factory, he spotted a person, just standing outside. It was a girl, short, long brown hair. He wondered what she was doing out at this time of the morning and whether or not he should avoid her. After all, he was technically still on the run from the cops. He continued walking though, deciding it would look more normal than if he just turned around and walked in the opposite direction. As he got closer to the figure standing by the factory, he realised due to the clothes she was wearing that she was out running. Exercise was something Tobias could appreciate given how hard he worked on his own appearance and it gave a logical explanation for why the girl was out at this time of the morning. At least she wasn't any kind of competition for his business in the area. That made him relax a little. Tobias was just about to cut behind the girl when she turned around and looked him straight in the face. Shit, he thought, it had to be someone he knew, someone that would recognise him. And someone that would know him being in this part of town was not normal. ...Evie... Evie turned to move on and carry on with her run when she saw someone coming up towards her. She hadn't been paying much attention or she probably would have noticed him sooner. Tobias Thane. Great, just great, she thought to herself. It was weird that he was out this early in the morning, but then it looked like he hadn't slept yet. Maybe that was normal for him. She didn't really know what was normal for him. She didn't really know that much about him at all, except that they had gone to the same school and he was a giant pain in the ass most of the time. He thought he was so cool, Mr Rich and Perfect, and this meant he thought he could get any girl he wanted, including Evie. Evie was probably the only girl who had turned him down. But that never really stopped him. "Tobias, what are you doing here?" She said, aware that her voice was echoing in the sound of silence. This was definitely not his home turf, what with the prices of houses here probably costly less than his weekly allowance from his parents. ...Tobias... In his mind, the inner voice was just shouting play it cool, man play it cool. But this girl, she was different from all the other girls. This girl was the only one who'd ever rejected him and it didn't happen once. He tried and failed a whole bunch of times, so many that it was getting kind of pathetic. Tobias never let it be shown though, always the cool exterior to cover up what was really going on. And he always made up for the rejections by sleeping with every other girl who literally threw themselves at him. But Evie, there was definitely something about her. "Evie, babe, how's it going? Working on those hips I see, looking fine. You never ceased to amaze me." He said, flashing her a smile. He could tell by the way she was looking at him that she would never believe any lie he was about to make up. He was trying to make himself seem casual, but not in a way that it was forced. He was still on high alert, listening for any sirens, aware of what he had stashed on his persons. ...Evie... Evie looked at Tobias, wondering if he looked even shiftier than usual tonight. Maybe he was just tired, it was 5am and he did look like he hadn't slept. Maybe she should give the guy a break, she thought to herself, he's probably not all bad. Evie had just never been drawn into that rich kid, bad boy attitude he had, and it wasn't like there was a shortage of girls lining up to be with him. Evie had just never wanted to be one of them. She noticed though, that he didn't answer her question. "Why are you on this side of town? At 5am? What kind of trouble are you into now?" She asked him, sighing. There had to be some kind of story. The question was whether or not she wanted to stick around to hear it. She knew that the longer she stayed, the more interested it would make her look. And she did not want to look interested. In the background, some sirens started sounding. Evie looked around and then looked back at Tobias. He looked uneasy, like he thought the cops were coming for him. Maybe they were, it wouldn't be the first time. She made a decision, she didn't know yet whether it would be something she regretted. Today was her day off after all. "Are you hiding from them?" She asked him, pointing to the air but referring to the sirens. "If you are, and you better not lie to me, then you can come back to mine, at least until they are gone." Evie sighed, waiting for the truth. ...Tobias... Did he trust this girl, was essentially the question that was rolling around his mind as he took in what she said. Did he tell her the truth and risk her never realising what a great catch he was and falling over herself to be with him? Or did he lie and risk getting put in jail if the cops found him and his possessions. He made a snap decision and hoped it was the right one. "Evie, girl, you know me. I always run into trouble." Tobias winked at her "But don't get the wrong idea, I haven't killed a single soul, I promise." ...Evie... Evie looked at him hard. She didn't trust him, but she did believe him, though she didn't know why. "Come on then, let's get out of here." She said turning around and beginning to walk in the other direction, back towards her house. "Don't make me regret this."
