I totally get that as I don't typically play a lot of the characters I'm playing (the type/personality). My best advice is really read over your personality and really embrace the thought process. Typically one thing I like to do is, for characters I'm unlike. Just find a list of questions, like a personality test, and answer them in their voice. That helps me a bunch!
