The A-team was sent on a covert mission to another (hostile country) to extract classified information on an off the books op.  The mission was deliberately botched by a rogue cell from inside the A-Team. As far as the four mains know, they're the only ones who made it out alive. Because that's what the tribunal that tried them said. They were imprisoned for six months before escaping.

The one thing we don't have is who hired them. I guess it all depends on where in Africa they are honestly. Maybe an old contact from their military days? Someone they meet but doesn't care about their sordid past?

Extracting a defector would make for a good early episode too especially since the team feels like they were wrongly convicted and a defector would be seen as a traitor to his nation. It’d also build their contacts network. Making contact with a group of militants to prevent destabilization of an area also fits really well, especially if we make the consequences strong as well as have a good antagonist to ‘em.[/quote]
