Well, let's see how this goes.
Shinigami Name: Makoto Kojiro Appearance: For a captain, Kojiro is rather unassuming, even forgettable. With short, black hair and hazel eyes, and a rather average height of 5'8, he doesn't exactly exude the air of 'Captain of the 13 Court Guard Squads', and could probably go completely unrecognised without the signature captain's haori. It's not exactly obvious underneath the uniform, but Kojiro's body is lightly toned, keeping his frame small, but the results of his training and activity are obvious to those who somehow find him shirtless. Division & Rank: Squad 5, Captain Idealogy: Kojiro, despite his friendly demeanour, does not like relying on others. In battle, he will not accept assistance from his allies. With paperwork, he refuses to delegate. From his early days as a Soul Reaper, seeing allies cut down because of his own mistakes, perceived or otherwise, has strengthened his desire to not let his comrades sacrifice themselves for his sake. Ironically, Kojiro encourages that his squad always back each other up and help one another through any situation, and has occasionally attempted to spread this mindset to the other squads, as well. He seems rather oblivious to the fact that he rejects this very philosophy when directly involved in matters, however. Kojiro's personal berserk button would be his lack of unique traits. Given the manifestation of his zanpakuto, it can be a sore spot to Kojiro that his perceived skills are to "steal" from others. For this reason, he prefers that those who know of his zanpakuto's abilities keep it to themselves, and instead acknowledge the abilities he strove to perfect on his way to the Captain's position. History: Kojiro was not an especially noteworthy Soul Reaper. He was competent with a sword, not entirely clueless to kido, maybe a little too overeager to impress... basically, he had potential, but compared to many others, was not expected to amount to greatness in any form. One day, when assigned to deal with a Hollow with a few squadmates, Kojiro let his excitement get the better of him, and blindly rushed at the target. As this Hollow was not quite as weak and harmless as he had suspected, his foolish actions would have lead to his death - had his comrade not taken the blow at the last minute. After a tense battle, the Hollow was defeated, but Kojiro was left in shock - he had let someone die because of his own stupidity and weakness, and suddenly, any skill in his possession felt insiginifcant. What good was being mildly talented, if he ran into a slightly stronger opponent? What was the point of being a Soul Reaper, if he couldn't take care of the enemy? From then on, Kojiro swore to become someone strong enough to defend others, someone that wouldn't put others in harm's way needlessly. He wouldn't let his comrade die in vain. Kojiro trained hard, dedicated to his goal and surprising everyone with his newfound resolve. His talent grew over the years, steadily gaining recognition for his skill and achievements, and after countless years, was finally awarded the rank of Captain. Abilities: Kojiro is relatively adept at Shunpo. It gets him from A to B quickly enough, but is not exactly mind-blowing when compared to specialists. Or maybe even the average captain. Kojiro also knows several Kido spells, mainly Bakudo spells such as Enkosen. His repertoire is a bit lacking in directly-offense kido spells, however. Most importantly for Kojiro, is his skills with the sword. In pure swordsmanship, Kojiro has trained extensively to make up for his released forms, and has become very good with the katana. Kojiro will be the first to admit his shortcomings compared to his fellow captains, but the one thing he is confident in, is his superior skill. Zanpakuto Zanpakuto Spirit: Nise no Buki's appearance is... somewhat odd. It appears similar to a shadow or silhouette - a blank, dark figure with no discernable features. The closest approximation to an appearance for the spirit, is that it could be considered Kojiro's literal shadow, matching his height and outline perfectly. Nise no Buki is a rather curious spirit, taking interest in virtually everything and desiring to own everything it doesn't possess. The relationship between reaper and sword is a tad strained, given Kojiro's disdain for his own powers, but Nise is more than happy to cooperate in battle if it gets a chance to experience new abilities. Inner World: Kojiro's Inner World is remarkably empty. A blank, white void stretching seemingly forever, with the only object apparently being a towering, monolithic mirror. Nise no Buki seemingly resides within this massive mirror, providing Kojiro's reflection, although it is capable of leaving this space. Shikai: "What's yours is ours. Mirror my enemy, Nise no Buki." Nise no Buki does not possess a 'true' Shikai form, instead replicating the weapon of Kojiro's opponent. Swords, darts, spears, bows, anything at all can be copied, as well as the special properties of that weapon. While a useful-sounding skill, it has severe drawbacks - mainly, that Kojiro has little experience using anything other than a sword as a weapon. Sufficiently-unique weapons are more likely to hold Kojiro back as he struggles to wield it. Second, while he would be able to use any skills granted by the replicated weapon, he needs knowledge of how to use those skills. As well as the knowledge that said skills even exist. Bankai: "Your power will become my own. Replicate all, Kanpenina-Nise no Buki!" By sheathing his sword and re-drawing it once more, Kojiro releases his Bankai. Unlike his Shikai release, Kojiro's zanpakuto has a slightly altered form; the blade takes on a reflective, mirror-like quality. Nise no Buki retains the ability to copy an opponent's weapon-based techniques, assuming they could be replicated with the use of a sword, and in addition, allows Kojiro to imitate his opponent's movements, with enough time to analyse. It does not provide an increase to his strength, speed or any other attribute, but the surprise factor involved with changing his movements to match the opponent can often be enough to land a decisive blow.
