UPDATE (21st April): Recruitment is currently closed.
Hello there! As the tin can says, I'm looking for: 1. Standalone Roleplays Or basically what people call oneshots in elsename. We make characters, sprinkle an outline of how they will meet and interact, a speculation of an endgame, and go from there. What interests me ... Being the shy romantic with a zeal for some action, I like to dabble with swords and sorceries, as well as fairytales both whimsical or grim ones. Oh, and creature hunting, too! Stuff like ancient folklore makes me giddy. ... and what does not, for now. Science fiction, historical, and apocalyptic roleplays. Not because I find them boring, but because I'm currently busy enough with life that I cannot sit down and do extensive research to have a hand in fleshing out the environment. I don't want to be a selfish roleplay partner, even with given permission! Character interactions? Romance isn't key ingredient to a fun roleplay, slowburn chemistry is Christmas, but character development for either one of our characters is strongly preferred. How large my posts are ... My writing length varies from situation to situation, but it is safe to say that on average, I write about 100 words. Scene starters are twice or thrice longer at least, usually broken down to two or three paragraphs minimum. ... and my expectations in return. I don't have a strict requirement for my partners; an obvious effort made for both substance and presentation sates me. ^^ (A bit of rivalry on occasion is good-natured challenge, of course.) ◇ ◆ ◇ 2. A lore partner. Or partners. I worldbuilt a semi-high fantasy setting and hope to find someone - after a few roleplays together to test compatibility - who can fill in half of the lore with me. The world includes alternate history, what ifs for fairy tales, demons, ghosts, dragons and magecraft. I won't divulge more on it until I have at least completed a roleplay with the person though. (I'm painfully nervous and fretful about it.)
×○×○×○× Some rough and cheesy ideas I have, bolded being my fancied role:
1. Scarlet comes from a proud line of werewolf hunters dating back to centuries ago. It is tradition that the oldest child look out for the younger siblings, so the responsibility fell upon her big brother, Rhett, who had gone missing for weeks/months/years after one particularly dangerous excursion with their mother, Ruby. Just when she is ready to venture into the grimmer side, Scarlet's brother returns. His demeanour and behaviour are nothing short of peculiar and suspicious, though. ◇◆◇ Partner criteria: Fill in the truth behind Rhett's disappearance and motive for his return. His personality and looks are largely decided by you. For all we can be, Rhett could be adopted and secretly harboured a crush for Scarlet, or turned into a werewolf but unaware, or a spirit since he kicked the bucket, or isn't even the real Rhett, etc. Please notice my dorky naming motifs, and if you are so kind, play along. /hopeful
Status: -
2. There is nothing more exciting and fun for a young man/woman with a boring life to learn that behind the last door in the corridor belies an utterly different world, filled with unaging folks, talking animals, and cranky pirates in pursuit of mysterious treasures. Until you discover that the way back went poof, and that your only guide is clueless with what you are or where you come from. The excitement is still hanging; the fun factor, not so much. ◇◆◇ Partner criteria: I was thinking of an alternate take on the Peter Pan story with possibly (and hopefully) a different ending. In this Neverland, humans are virtually inexistent, so your character sticks out. We could give Captain Hook a Jumanji backstory, to fuel his drives and reasons, and make him the villain or antihero, or whatever other ideas you have. Your call! Also, you are free to play as a female, male, trans or whatsoever, with whatever definition "boring life" is to your character. Aristocratic prodigy sick of decorum and customs? Transgender fed up with the consistent bullying? Anime/Manga fanatic with agoraphobia? Or just your plain Jane/John with a hidden taste for adventure? Again, your call! This is perfect for you if you like fairies, swashbuckling, mermaids who aren't very sweet, and sea monsters.
Status: Brainstorming with [@Graceling]
3. You applied for a job that clearly asked for a bodyguard ("knowledge on shooting and close combats", "quick-mindedness", "brave and tough"). So it is baffling to say the least, after signing a two year contract, when your employer grins like he received his Christmas gift early and announced, "Welcome to the ghostbusting business, rookie!" It would seem, you have been scammed into hunting the paranormal. Although technically you are still a bodyguard for your boss and his colleagues; your enemies just happened to be, well, already dead to begin with. Working had never been so ghastly. ◇◆◇ Partner criteria: Make urban legends with me. Or tell me ghost stories you heard of so our team can kick some spectre butt. Ghosts only, no demons. Think 'Bloody Mary', 'Sadako', the Chelsea Hotel in NYC, Genting Resort in Malaysia, Beechworth Asylum in Australia, Nam-Koo House in Hong Kong, etc. Your character is expected to be good in survival, but whether he or she initially believed in ghosts, or even knows how to exterminate them is solely up to your liking. We could go srs bsns, or good old-fashioned goofy like Ghostbusters the animated series. You can play as the new recruit AND another existing member in the team (but let me know about the latter so we can incorporate some intersecting histories among our team members). Yes, there will be ectoplasm and psychics, and probably-unfounded, maybe-even-exaggerated superstitions.
Status: Tentatively begun with [@DegenerateThree] .......... Thank you so, so much for your time if you read through every word, and if you would like to roleplay with me (especially one of my listed ideas), it would be amaze-balls!
