He grew up on tales to astonish about Captain America and the rumours of a man the size of an insect (Gowi willing), becoming an avid fan of super powered individuals. Even at a young age he began to research them, his dad telling him stories about Captain America and what he could do. Teams like the Howling Commandos and the Invaders fighting the good fight and performing feats that no-one else could, when his father died at age nine he decided then that he'd go out and make a difference the best he could. At age 18 he enlisted in the US-Marine Corps where he was then sent to Afghanistan where he made a friend for life in Marcus Johnson. Throughout his time in the marines he was sent on increasingly strange missions. When asking his superiors about it they just told him they were orders from further up the chain of command, and to accept it. The tour finished abruptly and he moved back to the states, when hearing that his friend Johnsons mother had been killed he travelled to Atlanta to attend the funeral. When there they came under attack by an individual calling himself Orion, when S.H.I.E.L.D intervened and saved Johnson and Coulsons lives they were taken into custody where it was revealed that Marcus Johnson was actually Nick Fury, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and the entire alias had been a cover for an operation within the U.S armed forces. Coulson proving himself worthy was recruited into the organization. Years past with S.H.I.E.L.D operating in the shadows of society, and it wasn't until after Nick Fury became director and there was a boom in the number of powered people that S.H.I.E.L.D became public knowledge. With his long time friend now the director Coulson went on to expand his already existent database of powered individuals, codenamed the 'Index', in a bid to try and keep a lid on powered individuals. In a process that involved finding individuals with abilities, assessing them and then taking any necessary measures. Most of the time it just meant keeping an eye on their activities, in rare cases it meant imprisonment. However when the numbers continued to increase Coulson put forth the idea for the Avengers Initiative, and with the re-discovery of the Erskine formula bringing Captain America into the 21st Century. Since then Fury has given him S.H.I.E.L.D 616, a modified Globemaster as a mobile base for S.H.I.E.L.D operations in Furys continued attempts to find people, or objects, of strange or extraterrestrial origin. When he is not on the 'Bus' or on an Op he's in a base codenamed the Library, a safehouse that a select few people know about and the location where the Index is stored. Season 1 Summary: N/A Powers and Abilities: No Powers, however through training at S.H.I.E.L.D he is a skilled martial artist and is a high ranking agent in terms of espionage, explosives and intelligence gathering. He has also spent years studying and tracking down super powered individuals, forming his own database of them nicknamed the 'Index' which is now an official S.H.I.E.L.D tool that can only be accessed by himself, Director Fury, Maria Hill and Alexander Pierce (It doesn't have peoples secret identities only public ones). Sample Story Arcs:

Centipede: From AoS, follow a similar train but without Skye (obviously) but with the Hydra connection that will lead into the resurgence of Hydra.
Deathlok Program: Something at Roxxon Oil isn't what it seems to be, especially when a cyborg appears.
Secret Warriors: Dependent on interactions with heroes, heroes don't always need to work in the public eye.
