Races: -Oskans: Originally from islands off the coast of Malechia, Oskans are the descendants of the native men pushed out of these lands by the Malechians and Artakhians, crossing the straits of Lidea and quickly becoming the majority race in their new conquests through their increased fertility and sex drive. Oskans are tan skinned and round-faced, they often develop crow's feet as they age, and their eyes are almost entirely almond-colored, their hair is a very dark brown, though blonde Oskans are not unheard of. Oskans seem to have a high likelihood of being born albino, as at least 10% of Oskans are. Oskans have a high sex drive compared to other races, and are very fertile, believed to be due to their consumption of the world fruit given by their fertility god Alora Ahara, more likely it is due to the fact that few monolithic Oskans survived to adulthood, meaning that more had to be born to sustain their population. Oskans have a rich culture and religion, speaking a language known as Oskaan, which is described as lyrical and soft. They are a warlike folk, conquering most of the southeast of Malechia before being forced out by the invading troops. No pure-born Oskans remain in Malechia, due to centuries of war and disease. Traditional Oskan weapons are sharp swords made of wood and spears made of bone, a spear martial art known as Lilarat is popular as a recreation sport. The royal family are Oskan. -Loharan: Lohara is the traditional Oskan name for the Oscan peninsula, the Loharan people are the original inhabitants of this peninsula. Thousands of years ago, a population of Loharan crossed the Oscan channel to land in Malechia, becoming known as Artakhians, though as the generations went on, Artakhian breeding with other races led to them sharing little similarity with the Loharans, who are a xenophobic and unforgiving sort. Most Loharans live in the Reluda rainforest, where they attack any who impeach on their territory with firearms granted by Oskans during one of their many wars. The few Loharans who entered Oscan cities became known by their own as Kyrakius, traitors. Loharians have large eyes and slim builds, though they are usually stronger than their Oskan brethren. They have thick and curly black hair and tanned skin, though paler than Oskan folk. Loharans have blue eyes and often have freckles. Loharan women are often considered to be very beautiful, quite a few Kyrakii women have become celebrities in Aracusa. Loharans speak a harsh and gutteral language known as A:berius (With the : pronounced as a guttural "R"). -Iuari: Iuari are the descendants of Loharans and Oskans. Due to the hatred between the two groups, Iuari are rare, but where they do exist they are treated with great prejudice, with Iuari freedom groups becoming popular amongst the few populations. If one were to ask any of the three groups how much power they have, the Oskan would say they have the most, the Loharans would say they have little, and Iuari would say they have none. Iuari translates in Oskan to "Unwanted", and many Iuari feel it fitting. -Iscara: Iscara are the men and women from other countries who immigrate to Oscan, they are treated with prejudice and suspician, though it often dies down after a generation or two of interbreeding with Oskans. National History: Oscan was born thousands of years ago as the Lolita Patriarchy, a republic where a group of highborn men ruled the government, any man could run as a Patriarch, but women were strictly prohibited from anything of the sort, eventually the patriarchy controlled most of the area in the nearby Lidean sea, establishing themselves be skirmishing with the petty kingdoms in the Reluda. Lolitans were the precursor to the Oskans, and were men from far south who travelled north to take land in the Oscan peninsula. Archeologists are still puzzled by the sudden disappearance of the Lolitans, who left large ruins and an unfinished calendar that simply stopped on Oua 7 100 7, the seventh day of the seventh month of the Lolitan year 100 of the seventh Lolitan Ezembe of the seventh Suzuka. Lolitan calendars can be difficult to understand, but they based their years on elections, an election took place every twenty-five years, and every four elections a new Ezembe was declared, year 100 being the last year on the old quarter. Every eight Ezembe, a Suzuka, or in more modern Ozkaan, a complete, was declared. The Lolitans recorded seven Suzukas before the sudden disappearance of the Lolitan people. The Lolitans gave a significance to the number seven, and their creator god shared his name with the Lolitan word for seven, so some have suggested that due to it being the seventh Ezembe of the seventh Suzuka, the Lolitans feared the apocalypse and fled, though their mythology doesn't seem to suggest this, and in fact, the seventh day of the seventh Ezembe of the seventh Suzuka was supposed to be when their god would return, though perhaps when he didn't, the Lolita fled out of fear. The now empty Lolitan cities provided excellent shelter for the arriving Oskans, and the remaining Lolita had evolved into the weaker Loharans, who lived in the rainforests. Quickly, the Oskans declared their warchief, "Haroa Eza" as their Ecuzan, or Supreme. Haroa established the Eza dynasty, which fell some years later to be replaced by the Bu, and then the Oraha, and finally the current dynasty, the Oscara. The Oskans did not simply sit idle, they continuously conquered surrounding lands until they reached Lolitan levels of power, though foolish kings and corruption brought them lower. The Oskans continually claim the southern portion of Malechia as their own, and many wars have been fought with the Malechians over these lands. Around a hundred years ago, a coup led by a general by the name of Hariu Bu was near successful at taking Oscan, killing King Orocha Oscara and burning down the famed Blossoming palace at Aracusa. Orocha's son Echu defeated the rebels, but grew paranoid of a new rebellion rising up, so he established his realm as a military dictatorship, purging dissidents and spreading propaganda, killing around two hundred thousand in his multiple purges. Echu also began reconstruction of the Blossoming palace, nearly completing it until his death twenty years ago. After King Echu's death of a fall, his son Ra continued his father's paranoid reforms, completing the new Blossoming palace and pushing his people towards industrial reform. Technology: Oscan is heavily industrialized around Aracusa, but due to the stalling of technology by Echu's reforms, the country is around twenty years behind their neighbors, though military technology continued, still equivalent to it's nearest neighbors in Malechia and the mainland. Outside Aracusa, most people are peasants, with little to no technology. The jungle castle of the Loharans, which was formerly independent, was recently annexed, bringing their skill in engineering to the cities and peasantry. Oscan probes entered space during a technological high period around forty years ago, though they rely on loaned satellites for transmitting information. Terrain: Oscan is of a temperate climate to the south, having a rainy season and a dry season. The further north, the less temperate the climate gets, and the capital of Aracusa is of a maritime climate. The south is dominated by the Reluda rainforest, while the north is hilly and dominated by a large unnamed escarpment that cuts the country between rainforest and hills. Culture: Oscan culture is based around solidarity and the group, with few individuals making it big in the capital and most famous folk being part of a group. Oscan art is "barely controlled chaos" as King Ra once said, often expressing emotion or love, preferred art stiles are carving and painting. Oscan music is mostly traditional, with chanting and beating of drums, one observer described a band who would just beat on a porcelain jar and yell "Ooo". Oscan philosophy is that of "Porria", a system where all inhabitants are equal in the eyes of the king, and all can raise to high office, but will have little power. The country is described as a capitalist absolute monarchy, as the Oskan always ruled it as. Demographics: 60% Oskan 25% Loharan 2% Iuari 18% Iscara (Other)
