The walls are white; there are no windows. There are beds lined up against the wall. There are others in here with you, but all look as disoriented as you feel. You notice all of these things, but they all pale in comparison to what is immediately on your mind. This room has no door. You are trapped inside.
Premise
Welcome to Locked in a Room! This roleplay will be story and character driven; it will have a definitive end and require strong participation along the way. You not only influence the story, you are the story. The plot is simple. In the year 2016, you are an everyday, normal person. One day you go to sleep and wake up inside a large room with a few others. You don't know why, you don't recognize any of them. All you know is that you're locked in the room. You want to escape... maybe finding out why you're in the room will help with that. It seems simple enough, until it begins to appear that there is a supernatural force at work. And it has obviously taken an interest in you.
Details
The majority of the roleplay will take place in the room. Your character is in the room for a reason, for a very specific reason that could apply no nobody else. The story is already established by me, but your characters and their actions will fundamentally change how it plays out. There is a reason you're in the room and there is a way you can leave. That can only happen if you manage to find out why you're in the room. Additionally, as events unfold it will become clear that there is some sort of higher power involved in your capture. What could they want with you? Think you're up for it? The main goal of this roleplay is for you to create a realistic, convincing character and watch as they grow and change as a person and influence the world around them, including the others in the room. The power in the room will take great liberty over your character. They will delve into your past to try and make you rethink your actions. They'll try and change who you are, exploiting your flaws and eliminating your strengths to see if it can provoke a reaction. The deeper your character is as a person, the more realistic this roleplay will be and the more success we will have in the story. History: In a few paragraphs, describe where you came from and how it shaped you. You character can be from anywhere in the world; there is no age minimum or maximum. They can be any type of person, holding any type of career (or no career). There will be no fighting (unless you instigate it against another character) so feel free to experiment with any type of character. I will allow people to make characters related to each other but no more than a pair (parent/child, siblings, couple, etc.) Other than that, you're perfect strangers with the others in the room. I will ask you to revise characters who I don't think we can work with (i.e. they have a generic, boring history with no obvious flaws. The best characters will be complicated and have both upsides and downsides)
