Supernatural Division

“Hello and welcome.” The smartly dressed German man addressed the recruits who sat around the long oak table in the modern boardroom. “My name is Alexander Biermann, I head the SND - the Supernatural Division of the Bureau.” He took a look around the room, then continued. “Contrary to what the name suggests, we typically solve cases that are too complex for other police agencies to handle. Though, this does not, by any means, mean that we do not deal with cases of a supernatural quality. “You will notice laptop computers in front of you along with a briefcase. Inside you will find a belt, a collection of five mobile phones - switched off - a watch, and an assortment of other standard issue gadgets, courtesy of the engineering department here in the Bureau’s New York offices. I will allow Dr. Osamu and Dr. McCoy to explain their function and other uses. For now, I'll ask for your attention to be directed to the screen.” A screen electronically lowered itself from the roof, behind him. “I'd like to begin the investigation as soon as possible.” When the screen had finally clicked into position, Biermann tapped a button on a remote he possessed and an image sharpened into view. The German turned to another man in the room, “Mr. Foster, this is your project.” He addressed everyone in the conference room and said, “Would you mind introducing the team to it?” Mr. Foster stepped forward, cleared his throat, and began his quick briefing. “Two weeks ago I made a trip to Montana to visit a man who claimed to have knowledge on the whereabouts of an ancient artifact, the trident of Poseidon.” He paused as he heard several gasps, and one man half laughed, half choked on his coffee. “You can’t be serious,” the man said. “In our line of work, we must take everything seriously,” Biermann interjected. “I can assure you Dr. McCoy, the trident is, in fact, real.” Mr. Foster continued, ignoring McCoy’s outburst. “The trident, or, more precisely, the orb it’s contained in, was involved in an incident back in 1967 near Japan. The energy released by it created one of the largest and most devastating tropical storms in human history. Although it was thrown overboard and considered lost to the depths of the ocean, rumors are surfacing of its reappearance. I have been able to trace it to Vietnam, but that is where the trail ends.” McCoy shook his head. “So, it disappeared. So what? It’s not like anyone else is looking for it.” “That, is where you are wrong. My contacts tell me that the Russians are looking for it right now. We need to find it. If the Russians get it, it’s going to be Armageddon incarnate.” Foster stepped back and let Biermann finish the briefing. “As you all can see, it is of utmost importance that we recover the artifact as soon as we possibly can,” He gave them all a moment to take in all that was said. “We will have access to the special enforcement unit. Lieutenant Colonel Evans isn’t here, at the moment, to explain but you will have contact with him and his men. “It would appear that we should be going to Vietnam. Does anyone have any thought on where else it may be at the moment?” Biermann glanced around the room, curious as to who would speak up first.
You have been invited to join The Bureau, a multinational police agency associated with no single nation, but with the United Nations as a whole. You have been singled out among your peers because of you skills, knowledge, maturity, special abilities or other such things. You may be a forensic analyst, a psychologist, a private detective. Whatever the case may be, you've been singled out as useful to the Bureau and have been invited to join their ranks. Assuming you accept - you have been subject to an interview as well as a test and will begin on your first case shorty.
1. Please submit your CS to me via PM. This is for the purpose of a test of writing skill in an in character setting. 2. Post length is not important. However, the quality of a post is, you should be able to react to what is happening around you character and progress the story. 3. There will be a posted posting order. This will be decided on a first-come-first-served basis. 4. Please allow your turn to come back around before you post again, unless you are engaged in a scene with other players that needs your attention - collaborative posts are encouraged. 5. Please only use NPCs as you need them, I will be mostly using them to progress the story. 6. As the GM I will be conspiring with players to make the story interesting. 7. Prior to posting an IC reply please send it to me via PM for any relevant roles or judgements. You may also opt to contact me as you write a reply for a role on an action instead of sending it at the end and, maybe, having to edit.

(Remember, all CSs must be submitted to me via PM before they can be accepted) Name: (First/last) Appearance: (Preferably a picture, photographs and any art/style portrait is acceptable) Age and Sex: (As young or old as you want, however if a character is younger than 16 please have a convincing explanation as to why they are qualified to investigate with the police) Strengths and Weaknesses: (Everyone has them) Brief Biography: (Just a quick background check, I don’t need your life story, only what kind of person your character is.

Age: 49 Sex: Male Strengths - Deductive reasoning skills. He’s more skilled than your average detective and sees through most things, he second guesses almost everything that is presented to him. He’s good with a pistole. He also has skill in bugging a home or building which is to say that he can pick a lock and is good at infiltrating. Weaknesses - Patience. He has almost no patience in a combat sceneario and will likely run into action without thinking first if he is close by, however if he is far away from a conflict then he usually thinks over his next move. Biography/Personality: Biermann is a private detective, he keeps most of his history a secret. Though he casually tells people he meets that he’s half German. As for personality: Biermann would risk his life for an ally, however he would do nothing that would cost him his life - he would not take a bullet for anyone. He would, however, infiltrate a building to rescue someone assuming that they've been captured. He usually gets along with people that he’s around, even if they annoy him greatly. He will not hesitate to take a life. If someone discovers him, he doesn't attempt to hide by denying it, but rather, he openly admits to being discovered in an attemp to bide time in order to find an escape.(It's a little jumbled). Specialized Skills: I’ll rate his skills on a scale of ten. Deductive reasoning - 8.5/10 (assuming that most people are a 1-2/10) Handgun usage - 7.5/10 Infiltration - 8/10 Point Assignment: Strength: 2 Dexterity: 6 Intelligence: 9 Fortitude: 3 Additional info: hidden to non "GM" players.

Age: 34 Sex: Male Strengths: Technology is his game. He builds robots, computers, gadgets and can type furiously. He can build a microphone so small it has to be built under a scope using precise servo driven building arms he constructed. He's the head of engineering at the Bureau's Supernatural Division. Weaknesses: He does not fight. He would probably go down after one punch. Brief Biography/Personality: Osamu was born in Japan were he learn Engineering privately and learned coding in the university. He graduated with a doctorate in Engineering and in Astrophysics. He minored in English so he could move to the United States where he taught robotics and other engineering classes at the university of New York. The Bureau invited him to the engineering department where he quickly rose to the top of. Akihito is quick to learn and quick to use. He's a very straight forward person, after you get past all of the nerdy, not very straight forward, aspects of him. He's very knowledgeable and has good deductive reasoning skills, as such he will occasionally chip in on a case. Specialized Skills: -Engineering. The Bureau recognized his superior skills to most of their own engineers in the science and engineering department. (9/10) -Deductive Reasoning. While not on the level of Biermann in that aspect, Akihito is significantly more intelligent than most people with an IQ of 231. The IQ determines problem solving skill and so he is able to take a situation and see a solution. He usually uses this in engineering because seeing multiple solutions is not as usefull when attempting to find a solid lead. Point Assignment: Strength: 1 Dexterity: 7 Intelligence: 10 Fortitude: 2

Age: 38 Sex: Male Strengths: Walcott understands how a person thinks and can usually deduce what they’re thinking and what their next move will be, given some time to think it over - he’s no Holms but he is an excellent detective. Weaknesses: He knows how to shoot, relatively well, but can’t fight with his hands for his life. He is also too overconfident, sometimes finding it difficult to let go of a theory even though someone has contradicted it with hard evidence. Brief Biography/Personality: Harry doesn’t really talk about his history too much, other than he used to be an investigator/detective in Denver. He hardly ever ran into a case that he couldn’t solve and, so, the Bureau recruited him a while back. He’s easy enough to get along with but will explain himself to death, even if he knows he’s wrong. Specialized Skills: Deductive Reasoning. Having ran into only a few cases that he couldn’t solve in his tenure at the Denver PD, the Bureau recruited him and he now leads a team of investigators. While not on the level of Biermann in that way, Harry has a firm grasp on how a person thinks and works, with that info he can almost always determine what someone’s next move will be. Point Assignment: Strength: 1 Dexterity: 4 Intelligence: 8 Fortitude: 4

Age: 34 Strengths and Weaknesses: Weaknesses: -In the event of an emergency (such as an imminent car crash) he locks up and his attempts at warnings become unintelligible gibberish. -McCoy is a terrible shot. -If he is overconfident about something, then he'll likely fail at that something. Strengths: -Sc.D. in Theoretical Physics and a Ph.D. in Engineering -Decent deductive skills. His skills are not comparable to that of Sherlock Holmes, however, he is able to see through what most would discount as nothing or perhaps coincidence. Brief Biography/Personality: Nathan isn't the type of person to get involved in a situation, unless, of course, it affects him - his life, his job, or his general well being. The man isn't selfish, he simply would rather not put himself in harm’s way. He's a thinker, not a doer - in some ways. However, if he finds that he is in danger, he acts to get himself out as soon as possible, likely with one of the many gadgets he carries at all times. He doesn't get along with others well, they usually find him to be boring, or too talkative and socially awkward. He has above average deductive skills and has made playing chess a hobby. McCoy attended MIT where he earned his Sc.D. in Theoretical Physics and Ph.D. in Engineering.. He has worked in NYU as the director of the Science Program, though he didn’t do as much directing as his associate director did, McCoy spent most of his day researching and generally dicking around in the lab. Special Skills: McCoy was recruited by the Bureau because Dr. Osamu asked him to be. They’d worked together in the University, McCoy was the Director and Osamu was a researcher, declining a directing role multiple times. Osamu recognized McCoys intelligence given that they had worked together for nearly a decade when Osamu was recruited. Akihito wasted no time in getting McCoy in the Bureau as well.
