Aye, getting the curse of undead or whatever is going on with the lords of ash seems to be a pretty wide-spread thing. Though I should note that Syndere and Malakaus are specifically one of the "Chosen Undead" from DK1, just somehow managing to survive all the way to whatever the time is right now.
