Scared people. People, who feared what the world would do to them, if it found out. It was like a parade of fear itself. This shelter; an abandoned theater had started to feature so much noise, it almost wasn’t secret anymore. The roaring voices were suddenly silenced by what sounded like a lightning strike and a flash of light. Both originated from a young woman’s palm, as she stepped onto the stage. “You are behaving more like children than supernaturals. Keep this up and the government will have you and your families in no time.” There was a certain strength in her voice, which lead several to squint their eyes and try to get a look at the face under the hoodie. “Who are you?” the man, who she had joined on stage, asked. “The one who isn’t afraid.” Jane took a moment to look at every frightened face in there. “You are all gifted beyond words, beyond definition. The rest of the population aren’t even worthy, breathing in the same air as you. You are SUPERNATURALS. When you drink you can make rivers dry out. When you eat you can make species go extinct. When you tread you can make mountains crumble.” Despite her small stature Jane walked like a giant, and if she hadn’t gotten everyone’s attention before, she certainly did now. And she wasn’t finish: “Nations should celebrate when we are happy. Armies should tremble when we are angry. Leaders should obey our orders. Priests should praise our names. Look around, brothers and sisters, if you all rise up you can be night and you can be day, alpha and omega. So ask yourselves this: Why should you have to hide? You are beautiful, and you can be everything humans pray to. So don’t you ever bow, and don’t you ever take their shit.” Jane took a determined breath, and just as she started to head towards the exit, the guy on the stage called out. “Eh, miss? You are not suggesting all supernaturals go to war, do you?” With a dark look, she replied: “If we did, we would win.” Jane left with that statement cemented in everyone’s mind. It hadn’t been the first time she had encouraged supernaturals to fight back, and she was convinced it wouldn’t be the last either. Edge usually didn’t like this; they thought it brought unwanted attention to Jane, but she didn’t care. The world was changing because people like her had entered it, of that she was sure.
