The initial shock of seeing the gargoyle that Vata felt was quickly replaced by a profound feeling of embarrassment as the gargoyle walked over and scolded him for the way he was addressed. Vata's mind raced as he tried to compensate for his careless words. It was fortunate that the creature only seemed to be about as confused as Vata was, and not as offended as Vata would be if he were in the creature's place. Pushing the uneasiness he felt aside, Vata met the creature's stony gaze, hoping that his face wasn't quite as red as he imagined it would be. Not surprisingly, his voice was rather unsteady as he tried to force words out of himself to try to defuse the situation. "I, uh, apologize for that. I haven't seen anything quite like you, and, um, your sudden appearance caught me by surprise. Uhh..." Suddenly, Vata's mind went about as blank as his own paper when he noticed the creature's considerable size. A few seconds passed before he managed to find his words again. "Ah, damn it. I've made quite the fool out of myself now, and there's nothing more to it than that. Calling you a 'thing' is definitely inappropriate, but, what should I call you?"
