While he has to deal with his raging hormones and the everyday life of a kid who's materializing into a fully fledged adult, he also puts a lot of effort in his endeavors to control himself from doing something - anything - audacious. He understands the risk and the weight he's carrying on his shoulders, a responsibility that's a by product of his superpowers, and always maintains himself in the heat of a battle. However, that doesn't always work. There are instances where he might lose it, one of those being the injury or the death of a loved one. At that point, there's no telling what he might do. He'll snap, he'll go catatonic, he'll get distracted. Either way, there's one thing for sure; he'll cause himself harm. During everyday life, he's a rather polite, but sometimes blunt teenager. While he doesn't gleefully hop whenever the opportunity presents itself, Ajax's rather pleased when he gets to form new bonds with people he trusts. He's very big on wisecracking, and will do it whenever he gets the chance to, sometimes as means of psychological warfare. There are, of course, also times when he truly is dumbfounded by the world unraveling in front of him, making for some greatly timed comedic moments. Above all, he values his family, especially his older sister and will do anything in his power to protect them. Being a kid, Ajax is prone to being manipulated/played by people who specialize in that sort of stuff, but he's very sharp and will catch on pretty quickly. In terms of intellect, he's not book smart. Actually, his grades are in shambles, sometimes forcing him to reduce his shift as a vigilante in favor of doing homework. He, however, is extremely resourceful and pays close attention to detail, often giving him the edge in risky situations. While pragmatic, Ajax is also an avid comic book fan and believes that superpowered individuals must strive to adopt the moral codes of his illustrated idols. He prefers to reason first and only use his powers as a last resort. If he does conclude that his opponent(s) are not the type you have a talk with, he will use brute force, but never to the point where it becomes lethal. Background: Born in a fairly rich area in Manhattan, Ajax was born to great wealth, but to a family of neglectful people. Seeing his Mom and Dad's callous behavior towards them, he was taken under her wing by his older sister who raised him by her principles in an apartment she afforded by herself. He grew up to be a very nice and energetic kid, but a slacker at school. When the strange wave field hit earth and his powers first surfaced, it took him a while to get used to them and once he did, he was faced with the problem of how and where to use with them. Considering the growing anti-gifted sentiment which was being fueled by the media at the time, he briefly considered giving up on those powers in the hopes for a normal future. However, he switched paths when he had to use his gift to rescue a woman who was being harassed by a group of guys. From then on, he adopted the nickname of Weaver and decided to stick up for the people of his neighborhood. His costume protected his secret identity, but he decided to tell his sister anyway. His tenure as Weaver was pretty short-lived however. After four months of vigilantism, he swung too close to the government radar and soon capture teams were sent to get him. He stood no chance. But just as his time as vigilante, his prison days were also pretty short. Two weeks in, he was approached by a mystery man who wanted him to join an initiative of gifted people with potential international implications. He, of course, said yes. The rest is a story yet untold. Abilities: Fiber Manipulation - Ajax's gift is his ability to manipulate natural and synthetic fibers. To cram it up in a little nutshell, he can control numerous types of fabric, hence the name he got for himself - Weaver. While he has command over both types, he has a better grip on synthetic fiber than natural one for reasons he himself cannot explain. So, if his adversaries are wearing any type of cheap clothing, body armor or anything made of synthetic fiber, he can momentarily command that fabric from a certain distance. Since this ability stems from his brain, it does not match his physical strength but goes far beyond, granting him the ability to LITERALLY punch above his weight. For example; with the right amount of focus, he can manipulate the suspension cables in Golden Gate bridge and cause it to tumble. He still doesn't have a clear handle on his power, so while it's implied he can do it via his brain only, he uses hand movement to coordinate and target specific fiber-based objects. As awesome as it is, the power does have limits. Athleticism - Ajax is no gym rat, but he is good at running. While not an ability per say, it sure granted him second place in a state competition and first in a local marathon. He has also learned the basics of parkour during his ongoing run as a neighborhood vigilante, and he has done so out of necessity after receiving some serious injuries in an alley fight with eight members of a criminal gang. Speaking of abuse, Ajax also has a slightly above average capacity of taking a beating, able to match that of a 6 foot tall Marine. It's still hazy as to whether this is a spinoff of his superpowers or just a not-so-unusual quirk in his genetic makeup. Weaknesses: Ajax controls fiber via his brain, so causing him pain can disable his ability temporarily. The bigger the wound, the harder it'll be for him to recover. Also, while he is able to control synthetic fiber from a fairly long distance (350 feet), he needs to be within 30 feet to manipulate natural one. Due to his powers not being fleshed out yet, he cannot pull or push a conscious being within the fabric all the way (due to body resistance), but can only give them a boost in the direction he wants them to go. He cannot levitate fiber-based objects, but can make them hover slightly above ground level, depending on the fabric. If it's a rope for example, he can make it slither like a snake and command it to jump briefly so that it can latch onto his target. Weaver also cannot manipulate something he cannot see or feel, so in order for his power to work, he must have a clear line of sight of the target. Background noise, gunfire, explosions do hinder his ability, but he's getting better at taking care of that day by day. The most important thing is that, in this case, Ajax's brain works like a muscle. If he overworks it, then he'll be drained and left vulnerable, so he can't really spam his power. Theoretically speaking, if he was given a chance to manipulate the suspension cables of a bridge as mentioned above, there's a pretty high risk that he could die from the fatigue. Equipment: Ropes - He has two wire ropes which are usually wrapped around his dark blue protective bracer. The bracer looks like the common orthopedic cast, but it's actually there to prevent the ropes from damaging normal blood circulation and, since the bracer is also made of fibers, it allows him to get a better grip on his ropes. The ropes are thin and can actually be easily disguised, but are not your usual type of wire rope, having a tensile strength of 72 GPa (gigapascals). They can be extended to up to 50 feet. The ropes were given to him as a gift by a world renowned engineer after he saved his life from local street thugs. In order for the wire ropes to launch, he needs to apply the strength of a punch to his forward hand movements. Baton - He carries a retractable baton. While he is not a master at it, he can swing it hard enough to cause damage, but prefers body shots instead of the often lethal head swing. He is getting better at it though, after studying about pressure points and getting a better handle on human anatomy. Police Scanner - He has a scanner in his bedroom which he uses to keep track of any criminal activity in his neighborhood.
