Alternate world will not exist since I think it would make an already extremely convoluted plot more of a nightmare to manage, though I'd give use to the bells linked to hunters (Read, any character other than civilians and militiamen) being able to hear the distinct chime when it is near their area. A hunter spotting a beast can thus decide to ring that bell to give a subtle alert other hunters nearby of his location to engage in JOLLY COOPERATION. Likewise a more wicked hunter could lock on that sound to find that hunter and engage in bloody combat. Sinister bells however...
