The trip down the underground river was frightening at first. Staying above water was nearly impossible as the tunnel twisted and turned. While buoyant the broken surface of the water left little opportunity to breath. As Lila began to realize her peril she could feel the onset of sleep coming. She shared the natural defense of drowning that her kindred spiders possessed. Even should the possibility of climbing out of the water came there was good chance she would miss is. Her legs curled up and the spider woman felt clammy. Her heart was slowing rapidly and staying conscious was impossible. Falling into a coma like state the current swept her further down, tossing her like it would any other debris it should swallow. How long she remained like this not even she could say. By now the river had branched and leveled into numerous streams. Down one she drifted with her face down in the water. To any she would appear as a corpse drifting in the water with her body faced downward. Likewise her pale skin and lack of a pulse would likely lead to the belief that she was indeed dead. Being at the surface she was just starting to come out of her sleep, but it would be some time before she was actually awake again if she stayed in the water.
