Most guilds are local organizations; for example, the merchants guild of one city is an entirely different guild from that of another. However, a handful are federal guilds-the Mage's Guild especially. The Mage's Guild is also unusual in that it is actually a federation of three smaller guilds-one for each of the common types of magic that govern regulations, standards and the vie politically on the behalf of members. The federal collection of the three is actually an extremely strong political force and influence in society, given how heavily reliant on magic society has become.
