They rarely congregate with their own kind for fear of becoming too self-consumed, but are generally very friendly and make excellent diplomats and ambassadors between the races whom they've befriended. Their minds are apt for abstract-thinking processes and language-acquisition, their own tongue rich and vocative. Because of this, many of the more lucky Dhakani work for universities and tech. companies. However, most aren't so fortunate. The Dhakani are relatively ancient and infamous among other old races as inherent thieves and no-gooders, and only within the last millennium have these long-perpetuated stigmas been put behind them. The majority of Dhakani one will come across work as street-peddlers or translators, or as mercenaries (or worse) for their physical abilities. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION __ Slightly shorter than humans with lanky, lean bodies and short, rough fur, Dhakani are remarkably agile. Feet as quick as their minds, they are able to contort their bodies through any opening they can fit their ears (when splayed) through, land on their feet undamaged from ~30 foot jumps, and efficiently navigate a range of terrains. Their long ears lend them an acute sense of hearing, but are often laid flat against their neck to prevent damage. Dhakani are long-lived, surviving healthily for centuries without interference, and can go for days with little food or drink. Well suited for dry climates, their fur (which comes in muted browns, whites, and blacks) is only long at their heads and at the ends of their tails, which are directly proportionate to torso-length throughout their lives and used as balance. When they walk, they do so at the ends of their feet to silence themselves. Their hands and feet are clawed, mouths filled with dog-like teeth, corneas milky-pale. Their voices are often nasally and lilting. WEAKNESSES __ While evasive and resourceful, when caught a Dhakani is much easier to cripple than a human. Their light bodies were not made for battery--once their legs are injured, their agility, cunning, and stealth aren't much aid. They contract air-born diseases easier than most other races and are not nearly as hardy as a Zarat, for example. When subjected to tropical, rain-forest-like climates, their life-expectancy drops like a stone; despite their wide scope, many were never able to build up an immunity to the wellspring of bacteria that live in such places, and the over-design of the flora and humidity of the atmosphere tends to cloud their reasoning abilities. Their ancestors, who hunted in dunes and never-ending plains where they could see the horizon from any angle, would not have been able to function in claustrophobic settings, and they aren't much better. The tropics just don't vibe with them. CULTURE __ Socially, the Dhakani no longer have their own culture or home-planet, despite many opportunities of gaining one. This is because of a long-held universal distaste for all types government and politics, believing that they stem more problems than they solve, causing mass-violence and dissatisfaction, and extort the public they're trying to protect too often. While they will co-exist and advance in other societies out of necessity, they refuse to subject others to the same themselves.
Faction: Talon Merc. Job: specializes as a spy or body-guard Abilities -- -- DHAKANI : Enhanced agility (compared to a terran), adaptable senses, stealth. -- TECH. : Cloaking device (invisibility).
