Glad to have something to distract himself from the strange winged creature, Vata took Charles' hand and shook it somewhat hesitantly. Although he was surprised by Charles slipping into a bizarre tongue completely unfamiliar with him, he had experienced it multiple times talking to people from his world who knew multiple languages, and he had done it a couple times himself while teaching a student.

If I had any experience with this sort of thing, I would offer to attempt the translation myself, but I'll need another person with me that has some experience with this sort of thing. It's difficult to explain why, but I won't be of too much use other than complaining about the cold if I'm the only one working on translating the symbols there.
